That author’s name has to be a word scramble of some sort. I’m not good at untangling that sort of thing, though. So I must leave this detective work to others. Possibly a code-cracking dietitian.

Nope-- it's a retractable leash, and we live in a VERY low-traffic area. Anytime a car approaches from either direction, I draw in the leash and keep doggo by my side. When there's no cars around, I let him roam to the leash's 15' length.

Pro tip for all those working-the-weekend cartoonists: get out for a walk. If you have a pal to take with you, so much the better. Either way, you’ll come back to the work fresher.

Oooo! Now THERE'S a hot take. I love it!

And yes, Bowie Nation. I know it's "not as good as Ziggy". Not really the point, at least not for me.

I’ve always admired this beach house along my walk route, there they have a replica statute of the famous Greek “Winged Victory” positioned as if it was the masthead of their house/ship. 10/10 style points.

Hope we all find enough moments of peace and reason to keep taking steps forward in these ugly times.

Glimpse of a moment where, much to Mercy's astonishment, things seem to be going well. Doubtless it'll all be smooth sailing from here, I betcha.

It does, 💯. Also, as an artist himself, Alan was a natural “visual thinker”. So while his scripts wee always endured with character emotions, and conceptual thinking, and intellectual flights, he always had a figurative eye on “How can this work visually on the page?”

Thanks to @stevelieberart.bsky.social for uncovering this thread I posted a while back about my experience working from Alan's script: bsky.app/profile/ronr...

WORKING WITH ALAN MOORE. I finally uncovered this splash page from "Abandoned Houses", my only solo art job on an Alan SWAMP THING script. It's been suggested to me to share some impressions on what that experience was like. So, what follows is my semi-deep dive 1/9

Not at all, Mark, quote awya if you find anything here useful.

This is good, I want to read more. Seriously, I’ve written before about working from Moore’s scripts. And they were, in my experience, unique in his ability to give a lot of suggestions for visual approach without ever seeing dictatorial. Unique. Which means, in general, Kids, don’t try this at home

Happy Birthday on this guy.

I think this is how every Hero’s Journey begins.
ronrandall.bsky.social
Look, I'm only sharing this because we're such close pals. But just between us, turns out I love drawing just about every character in the TREKKER.

Let me apologizing advance that it looks like you will have to endure these same blue skies and balmy sunny days during your stay. Nothing I do seems to make any difference about that. Sorry!
ronrandall.bsky.social
Some cooling vibes from the Oregon coast. (This from a few days ago. It’s actually blue skies and sunshine today and a brutal 61 degrees. Hold me in your thoughts…)

Could be, though RAM feels a bit loose and informal for that to me. I think he was really swinging for the fences with Band on the Run and got the homer he was after.
ronrandall.bsky.social
Spinning some lps that somehow evoke summer to me. And for no good reason decided to give this ol' thing a spin. Remains a deeply uneven affair. Brilliant and goofy by turns. Thing is, though, these sound like songs from the happiest guy on the planet.

Which at that point Sir Paul probably was.

I always felt he had work to offer, everything from short Rock back-ups to assisting Joe on some Rock lead stories to backgrounds for Carmine Infantino(!), but Rick got a lot more, I’m sure.
ronrandall.bsky.social
Probably “tear it up and start over again, kid”. Naw— Joe was always pointing out how to make things better and explaining why, rather than just pointing out flaws. He was a great, natural teacher.
