Does anybody ever want it at all?
UPDATE: in the btl comments quite a few people are livid with my suggestion that nobody really wants to eat Christmas pudding at the end of the Christmas Day meal.
No review from me today cos it’s the @ft_weekend.com CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, edited by @harrietfl.ft.com. It’s a banger and ever better in print. A top team including @nigella.bsky.social @timhayward.bsky.social @jancisrobinson.com and, er, me nominate the Christmas food must haves.

The difference between learning a language and preparing for an exam is annoying me today. I’m supposed to have an opinion on how many students should study abroad and how Austrians learn at work. And, well, I don’t.

I would become a tea drinker before I went here.
Every time I walk past this cafe on Bethnal Green Road I think it embodies all the ways modern London annoys me

Flashback. A really annoying narrative device.

This isn’t very nice. Apart from the wood panelled dressing room. I do like that.

Apparently Corbyn is partly to blame but not a single member of any of the assorted Tory governments the UK had during this period.
💥 This is the economic equivalent of a senior Vatican priest admitting the Pope is wrong about God.

Even the architects of Brexit are confessing the truth 👉while Farage still lies.

I got myself a new email address a couple of weeks and changed all my important things over. Websites and apps are very bad at forgetting email addresses.

If only we'd done Brexit properly.
"By 2025, Brexit had reduced UK GDP by 6% to 8%, with the impact accumulating gradually over time. We estimate that investment was reduced by between 12% and 18%, employment by 3% to 4% and productivity by 3% to 4%"

We were in Budapest in September. Not a single pride flag on display. Not on a shop door, not out of an apartment window. Nowhere. In a city like Budapest.
Toby Young, self-appointed king of free speech, is speaking in Hungary tomorrow about UK “censorship”.

He’ll be addressing a group funded by Viktor Orbán’s autocratic regime, which has seized control of the country’s media, judiciary, and routinely harasses its critics
Toby Young to Address Orbán-Backed Group on UK ‘Censorship’
Conservative peer and right-wing commentator Toby Young is due to deliver a talk tomorrow (25 November) at the in-house think tank of Hungarian autocrat Viktor Orbán. Young is being interviewed by Mat...

I think this is probably correct except that I've had a lovely November. It's lovely and cold and we've got snow which always brightens my mood. A visiting friend meant an a too early trip to a Christmas market, but even that was nice.

I didn’t come to rescue Charlie Brown from you. I came to rescue you from him.
That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Charlie Brown, for what you did to Ned.
Deep down, in places you do t talk about at parties, you NEED me on that wall, Charlie Brown.

I think I’m in a minority of one, but I’ll never understand the appeal of F1 street races at night. It’s mostly grey cages. The only shots of the city are from a helicopter, but you can’t watch the race like that. #f1 #lasvegasgp

This kind of thing is a useful reminder for me to occasionally check my own credulity online. Am I getting sucked into nonsense?
don't really care how this makes me sound at this point, but the free open internet was a mistake and a lot of people out there were clearly never going to be able to handle it
