On this day, 15 years ago.
I photographed this nice crescent moon and the hibernating butterflies in my barn. That was a different barn from what I have now. I do get the butterflies still, but also birds that find their way in, so you can guess the result... 😅

#kelpie at a balmy -17 walk looking at an abandoned house, where sometimes raccoon dogs nest.
Raccoon dogs, an invasive species can be hunted year round. The decline of field birds is however hardly due to them. The intensive land use and loss of habitat (shelter) is far more detrimental.

It was cold with plenty of snow, but that was pretty normal. The halo effect you see there was not. That effect was not around the sun, and neither a lens flare. It was everywhere to be seen at eye level, even when you block the sun (2nd photo. Only time I witnessed this.
