I really struggle to explain exactly how fucking illegal this is. This shit is functionally pointless. They just raided and took over a completely legitimate vessel for absolutely no reason.
Venezuela would be within its rights to do something about this, but we all know that's exactly the point

The US-backed plan to divide Gaza and ensure Israeli occupation and dominance is an intentional continuation of the Israeli government’s longstanding strategy of partition and land appropriation. We reject it, and we will continue to resist it at every step.
Israel’s Collective Amnesia
Even as Israel continues killing Gazans, its liberals are ready to forget the genocide.

We refuse this logic of genocide denial and refuse to let the world pretend that anything is “back to normal” while Palestinians in Gaza continue to suffer from the Israeli military’s war crimes. The ceasefire was never upheld by the Israeli government and the Israeli military’s genocide is ongoing.

This consolidation of forgetting builds on a broader pattern of the general indifference of most of Israeli society to Palestinian suffering over the past two years, a pattern now mirrored internationally by governments eager to move on after the ceasefire.

The collective amnesia of Israeli society is not only supported domestically in Israeli media but echoed by the Israeli supreme court and then internationally by countries ready to forget the Israeli government’s crimes as soon as the ceasefire was called.

Such dynamics reinforce the foundations of Zionism: the political ideology that seeks to establish a Jewish supremacist state on Palestinian land, where Jews enjoy superior rights, ultimately facilitating the systematic displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

Mordechai recounts how devastating reports about the Israeli government and military’s war crimes are being quickly forgotten or never acknowledged in Israeli society, creating a culture that ignores Palestinian suffering and reinforces impunity.

Narratives about the past two years which talk about dehumanizing, forcibly displacing, and killing Palestinians have been “rendered unspeakable,” and proponents of some of the worst acts of genocide, like the intentional mass starvation of the people of Gaza, are again welcome in public life.

Every facet of Israeli society—its government and politicians, its media and its culture—have collectively agreed to “make the decimation of Palestinian life in Gaza simply disappear from Israeli memory,” writes Lee Mordechai for @jewishcurrents.bsky.social.

Jabalia, like most of Gaza, lies in ruins. But we know that Palestinian popular resistance — and with it Jabalia and all of Gaza — will rise again. Another world is possible. We stand with Palestinians who fight each day to live their lives with dignity and justice.

Inevitably, oppressed people everywhere will seek — and gain — their freedom. And the global movement to gain that liberation supports Palestinians’ steadfast struggle of over 77 years for liberation.

The word intifada, which literally translates to “shaking off,” is widely used to describe uprisings and protests for liberation. When people call for an intifada, they are calling for an end to Israeli oppression of Palestinians – they’re calling for freedom.

38 years ago today in the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza, Palestinians initiated the First Intifada, popular non-violent resistance against the Israeli government’s occupation that lasted from 1987-1993.
