Ross from Moffat, Scotland. My oven gloves are a homage to a Half Man Half Biscuit song. The picture with castle is my painting of Castlebay, Isle of Barra.

But popular things aren't necessarily good things, they're only popular things. Some pop music, retrospectively considered, is objectively bad in almost everyone's opinion. Same with some food fads, building designs, clothing fashions etc. Our 'populist' present may well be cringeworthy in future.
Yep, Sky's complicit too, but my impression is that their overall inflection is less Reform friendly. And while having no particular axe to grind against the BBC's vs. Sky News's website (other than that the BBC should do better), if you trawl through my posts, you'll find many abhorrent BBC items.
That would be a quite unfair summation of the Sky News website. But I guess you may refer only to its TV news ? The Sky News website is an entirely different creature, and it has a narrative significantly less accommodating of post-conservative populism than that of say the BBC.
That the America Business Forum attendees are actually whooping and applauding at POTUS is more cringeworthy than listening to more of the usual drivel from the senile man-baby narcissist. Shame on them and the world of corporate shills 😕

Convinced The Daily Telegraph has slowly morphed into a satire rag...
Eastenders with a jihadist plot line. Farage & Kuenssberg co-presenting the evening news. Saturday kitchen dedicated to pie and mash. Repair Shop mending flags. Return of the black & white minstrel show ...
I understand that POV for now, but as Twitter approaches pure sandbox, continued engagement only provides it with a veil of legitimisation. At some point, before your presence there effects more damage than salvage, you will need to disengage.
I'm an advocate for Scottish Independence so it's poignant that Austrian school text books cited Ukraine in the context of Scotland.

I've encountered justification for Russia's invasion from both the 'Never Surrender' & the 'Wings over Scotland' crowd. It's a surreal epistemological paradox 😞
In the here and now war in Europe, 'persecuted minority' (referring to Russian speakers in Ukraine) is exactly what Putin says to POTUS every time they chat. And POTUS admires Putin, POTUS is wilfully ignorant of Europe & its history, & Europe is realising that the USA is no longer a reliable ally.
Rebels. I like it. It's the right kind of disruptive.
Only because the protestants still have to scare the dogs and commemorate burning the catholics first. Won't be long after that. Best avoid all supermarkets for the next 2 months.
Fish fingers & cheese toastie.
Great journalism here, and it's important context. All news needs context.

Pound to a penny, no evidence, just intuition, I'd bet that most of the flag raisers don't pay for a TV licence.

That said, what're the chances that the BBC will dare to let their audience know about this bit of context ?
Wherever we looked for the prominent flaggers and leaders of this movement, we found people smugglers and sex doll salesmen, people with dubious criminal pasts and people willing to put in a good word for Adolf Hitler.

I have a £1/month subscription, bought for the puzzles which are very good. But its editorial position is almost invariably 'highbrow' framed populism. The Times barely covers Ukraine, & you really have to dig deep to find any Ukraine news. Boyes is its Kuenssberg, & this influence piece is typical.
That's not coffee ! It has an ingredients list to make a drink which, in the phraseology of Douglas Adams, would be almost, but not quite, totally unlike coffee. And the warning is extraneous. No infant would even consider drinking it.

I'm shocked at how marginal that opposition is. Aside from the wanton destruction, the new building's incongruity, and the unlawful lack of consultation, even the most depoliticised of US citizens must realise that $300m isn't actually 'free' money, and that those 'donations' could be better used.
Indeed, and there is contemporary precedent in that Russia is unlikely to have invaded Ukraine if, under pressure from the USA, Ukraine had not given up its nuclear weapons.
