Added some basic attacks to the "boss". Now I should focus on making gameplay actually interesting, but I'm not sure I can do that without animations, for instance showing the boss charging its attacks.

Finally got a simple working annular based physics system (zone trigger and static collision with a single moving body, the player). Still a lot of details to address. Visually, I lost the slope in the process but will get it back ASAP. #godot

For my prototype, I'm trying to create a simple "annulus" based physics system: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annulus...

Weird things seem to happen in that space, for instance how you actually get larger the farther you are from the center. Can we bypass that? What are the gameplay implications ?

Spent the evening doing some vertex shader to display annular shapes.

And I must now admit that I sometimes fall in stupid vibe coding patterns. However I ended up getting it to work and have increased my understanding of shading by 0.02%. #godot

Whenever I'm making games I tend to gravitate towards "hold to charge then release" controls (eg the jump in mask up/around). How do you feel about it as a player? Do you have other games in mind with this kind of controls?

I'm afraid it may decrease accessibility

playing DQ III HD2D, and it's funny to me how important the 6 orbs are (across the whole series it seems), and how randomly I find some of them. the red one was just in some hole on the ground
