When I think about measles I think about the number 1,000. Thats the number that epidemiologists use to explain harm from measles in children. With 1,000 cases, about 200 children will require hospitalization, 50 will develop pneumonia, and one to three will die.

South Carolina is at 789.

After another massive database of usernames and passwords was found unprotected and exposed to the internet (without a password of its own, ironic!), I wrote some words about the underlying problem — infostealing malware — and why it powers much of cybercrime today.

For this.weekinsecurity.com:
Another huge leak of passwords is the tip of the infostealing iceberg
An unprotected database that spilled 149 million usernames and passwords to the web shines new light on how infostealing malware powers cybercrime.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

Your physical fitness will be tested when you shovel 10-12 inches of snow. I might be an athlete. I impressed myself.

My kitten's rap sheet keeps getting longer.

So far he has managed to break:
- my half-length mirror
- my crockpot (thankfully while empty)
- my crystal butterfly candle holder
- a candle (thankfully unlit at the time)

ClickFix hacks affect Windows and Mac users, and can plant password-stealing malware in a flash. These hacks bypass common security tools and defenses, and often the only fix is a full computer wipe.

I tested some ClickFix attacks myself, so I can show you how these hacks work. Please read & share!
ClickFix attacks are increasingly devious, dangerous, and can hack you in an instant
These attacks spoof Windows errors, CAPTCHAs, and real login pages to trick victims into hacking themselves with malware that skirts common cyber defenses.

By me at this.weekinsecurity.com: ClickFix attacks are on the rise. By spoofing Windows crashes, CAPTCHAS, and Apple logins, all try to trick you into pasting malicious code into your computer.

In this blog, I explain how ClickFix attacks work, what to look for (with pictures!), & how to stay safe.

This is why my 2025 was horrible. And some of my friends had multiple emergencies at once too. Thus, "the universe owes us an apology for 2025"

Another data breach, another normal American day. Keep your credit reports frozen and monitor all accounts etc. We can only do so much when our data is bartered and sold often behind the scenes without our knowledge/direct consent from companies we can't avoid if we live im society but try we must.
