Living with fire in a warming world 🔥

As extreme temperatures fuel wildfires across Europe, Kapil Yadav talks about some of the causes for these destructive events and what the future could look like when it comes to prevention.

#RoyalHolloway #University
"It’s clear that rising temperatures, land-use changes, and decades of fire suppression are making fires more frequent and intense. This is not only about climate or weather. How we manage landscapes, build cities, and respond to fire all play a significant role. The challenge is to move beyond emergency thinking and ask how we want to live with fire in a warming world. More action is needed when fires aren’t happening, so that less is needed when they do."

Kapil Yadav, Postdoctoral Research Associate in Fire, Livelihoods & Biodiversity from the Department of Geography, Royal Holloway, University of London.
