BREAKING: A Gamekeeper has pleaded guilty in England’s first-ever Hen Harrier persecution case.

Covert video and audio gathered lawfully by the RSPB Investigations team has helped expose the deliberate targeting of a Hen Harrier, leading to a landmark guilty plea:

What a win for nature!

Scotland is the first UK country to have Swift bricks in law – a lifeline for this threatened bird. And, for the first time ever, the Scottish Government must set legally binding nature recovery targets.

Thanks for helping make history with a strong Natural Environment Bill.

Today we raised our voices outside Scottish Parliament in one last push to ensure politicians stand up for Scotland's nature.

The Natural Environment Bill could be a game-changer - introducing nature targets and Swift bricks. The final debate starts today, we hope to see major wins for wildlife.

We know what needs to be done to help nature recover – what we need is the UK Government to take positive action now – for the sake of nature – and of our futures.

Climate impacts now affect every coastal and marine habitat.

Overgrazing, polluted water and rising wildlife disease are adding relentless pressure.

If nature underpins stability, food security and wellbeing, this level of decline is indefensible.
January 23, 2026 at 11:36 AM
The assessment shows that the UK Government is failing to slow biodiversity loss and consistently falling short of taking the actions needed to drive nature’s recovery, while instead seeking to weaken the protections that currently exist.

This isn’t good enough.

A country cannot be secure if its natural systems are collapsing.
January 23, 2026 at 11:36 AM
A National Security Assessment highlighted nature as a national security risk earlier this week.

Yet yesterday’s Habitats Regulations report shows many of England’s most important habitats are rapidly declining.

Just 3% are in good condition.

And half are in an unfavourable and worsening state 🧵

This is just another test of our governments’ commitments to put nature at the heart of policy.

So far, it’s not looking good.

Your voices have made this a national issue - and that matters.

We’ll keep pushing for energy solutions that protect nature, as well as climate.

62% of Scotland’s seabird species are already in decline.

Berwick Bank could now push some toward local and even national extinction, supported with public money.
January 14, 2026 at 12:39 PM
Yes, offshore wind is essential for tackling climate change.

But clean energy shouldn’t come with a body count.

We should be working towards lower-impact sites that can deliver the same energy without wiping out wildlife.

We don’t have to choose between climate action and living seabirds.
January 14, 2026 at 12:39 PM
Berwick Bank could be one of the deadliest wind farms in the world for seabirds.

In its first year, scientists predict it could kill:
• 2,808 Guillemots
• 815 Kittiwakes
• 261 Gannets
• 154 Razorbills
• 66 Puffins

That’s 4,000+ birds before year two, and tens of thousands over its lifetime.
January 14, 2026 at 12:39 PM
Thank you to the 7,000+ people across the UK who stood with us against public money for Berwick Bank.

This decision is a blow to our seabirds and to a truly sustainable energy future.

Your voices matter. Together, we’ll keep fighting for solutions that protect nature and the climate. 🧵
The UK Government’s decision to include Berwick Bank in the Contracts for Difference scheme is a disaster for Scotland’s seabirds.

Killing tens of thousands of these incredible birds isn’t just reckless, it could push many species towards extinction.

Packed house at Oxford Farming Conference today - and no wonder.

Farmers shared powerful, real‑world stories of nature‑restoring agriculture delivering hope, resilience and better livelihoods.

Proof that farming working with nature just makes sense.

Farmers are flocking to Oxford for two farming conferences, and we’re joining them!

As we step into the new year, we’re sowing the seeds for a future where nature and farming go hand in hand.

Now?

They have weakened it, creating uncertainty for businesses, investors and voters, and an uneven playing field for developers who want to do the right thing.
December 16, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Britain pioneered BNG as a flagship nature market, attracting investment, creating jobs and driving green growth.

Just weeks ago, ministers pledged to strengthen it.
December 16, 2025 at 5:33 PM
Diluting BNG by exempting ‘small’ sites (under 0.2 hectares), failing to close loopholes and signalling plans for further exemptions, the UK Government has chosen developers’ profits over public health and wellbeing.
December 16, 2025 at 5:33 PM
BNG was designed to be a win-win, delivering nature-friendly homes and communities that people want – alive with birdsong, buzzing with pollinators and enriched by green space.
December 16, 2025 at 5:33 PM
The UK Government promised to be “the most nature-positive government this nation has ever had.”

Today’s decision to exempt more sites from Biodiversity Net Gain - the scheme designed to deliver more wildlife and green spaces where people live - flies in the face of that pledge.
