Series Review: The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo
★★★★★ The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo is a YouTube web series written and directed by Brian Jordan Alvarez. It's an absurdist comedy about a group of twenty-something friends living in Los Angeles. The series is about Caleb (Brian Jordan Alvarez), whose boyfriend, Benicio (Antonio Marziale), is an actor living in England. Although Caleb has agreed to have a monogamous relationship with Benicio, he has a wandering eye and lusts over his straight friend, Billy (Jon Ebeling); and Billy wants to have sex with Caleb's gal pal, Karen (Stephanie Koenig).

Gentleman Jack, which is based on the diaries of Anne Lister, is fantastic! I'd never heard of Anne Lister, but now I want to know more. It also seems that they did a decent job--at least in season 1--of sticking to the facts regarding her romanc.

Series Review: Gentleman Jack
★★★★★ Gentleman Jack is a historical lesbian romance set in the 1830s. It is based on the collected diaries of Anne Lister, who wrote extensively about her life and her lesbian relationships. You can read more about this incredible woman here. The series starts in 1830, when Anne Lister (Suranne Jones) returns home to Halifax in Yorkshire, from Hastings. She's brokenhearted because her lover, Vere Hobart (Jodhi May), has left her to marry a man.

            Movie Review: Sauvage/Wild
★★★★★ Sauvage/Wild is a drama about Léo (Félix Maritaud), a homeless sex worker. One day when Léo is selling himself, he notices Ahd (Farid-Éric Bernard) across the street. The two men flirt with each other, then a car stops and Ahd leans into the passenger window and talks to the driver. After a while, he calls Léo over and they negotiate a threesome.

The Columbo Episode with a Gay Character
While watching old episodes of Columbo, I ran across one with an out gay character. That episode is "Butterfly in Shades of Grey" (Season 10, Episode 8). While there's nothing odd about having an LGBT character on TV these days, it was something to talk about in 1994. The story revolves around Fielding Chase (William Shatner), a conservative radio talk show host.

            Movie Review: Blue Jean
★★★★★ Blue Jean is a drama set in Newcastle, England in 1988. The story is about Jean, a closeted secondary school PE teacher. To hide her sexuality, she finds excuses not to socialize with her co-workers and lives far enough from the school that the odds of running into a student is low. Although her girlfriend, Viv (Kerrie Hayes), is politically active, Jean isn't.

            Movie Review: B-Boy Blues
★★★★ B-Boy Blues is based on the popular novel by James Earl Hardy. It's a soapy story of romance and drama where every man is buff and walks around without a shirt. Timothy Richardson plays Mitchell, a rising star with the magazine he works for. I assume he’s an editor, but it’s never well defined. He has a gal-pal assistant, Michi, played by Brandee Evans, who is smart, quick on her feet, and dedicated.

Movie Review: A Nice Indian Boy
★★ A Nice Indian Boy is a romantic comedy about Naveen (Karan Soni), a shy, awkward doctor who is unable to find a boyfriend. His outgoing best friend, Paul (Peter S. Kim), often gives him advice on how to pick up men, but he refuses to take any of it. Neveen would rather keep to himself than take a chance meeting strangers.

            Movie Review: Summer of 85
★★★★★ Summer of 85 is a gay drama about first love and the pain that follows. The film opens with a teenage boy, Alex (Félix Lefebvre), being led down a hallway by a police officer. Through a voiceover, he tells us that the story is about a corpse he knew when it was alive. At first the movie looks and feels a bit grim, then it cuts to a beach scene with bright colors and fun music.

            Movie Review: Teenage Kicks
★★★★★ Teenage Kicks is a romantic drama about a troubled teen who is in love with his best friend. Miklós (Miles Szanto) is a teenager grappling with his homosexuality, especially with his attraction to his best friend, Dan (Daniel Webber). While watching his half-brother, Tomi (Nadim Kobeissi), masturbate, he drops an apple and Tomi notices him. In a fit of rage, Tomi berates him, runs out of the house, and gets on his bike.

Dead by Daylight: The Trapper for Beginners
The one thing that any new Dead by Daylight player should do is play killer as soon as possible. In fact, you should play as the killer even before you try survivor. I say this because once you've played killer for a while, you'll have a much better idea as to what you're up against as a survivor. You'll understand how a killer thinks, what they're looking for, and the games they play.

            Series Review: High Town
★★★★★ High Town is a crime drama set in the coastal town of Provincetown, MA. The series begins with Sherry Henry (Masha Cima) and her recently sober friend Krista Collins (Crystal Lake Evans) waiting for a drug delivery in a remote area of Cape Cod. When Krista goes into the reeds to urinate, the drug dealer drives up and gets out of the car.

The Kojak Episode with a Gay Character
Back in the 1970s it was unusual to see a gay person portrayed on television. Sure, there were shows like All in the Family and Maude that were daring enough to give it a shot, but that was very uncommon. So, you can imagine my surprise to find an episode of Kojak from 1973 with a gay character, "Requiem for a Cop" (Season 1, Episode 6, 1973).
