"Don't be afraid of the stupid
who know nothing
but of the sly
who don't feel anything."
Erich Kästner

Every band has a lead singer 😉
8/8 After the war they returned to Switzerland, and in 1965, Lutz was designated as Righteous Among the NationS by Yad Vashem.
I know. Many people have the same problem.
On the other hand, it gives me the feeling that nobody’s interested. That can be hard sometimes.
4/4 Of the approximately 40,000 German and Austrian Sinti and Roma who were recorded, over 25,000 were murdered. In total, an estimated 220,000 to 500,000 Sinti and Roma fell victim to the Nazis' racial fanaticism and the genocide systematically planned against them.

December 16: 1942, Himmler orders that all Sinti and Roma still living in the Reich and in the occupied territories be sent to a concentration camp. Based on this decree, more than 20,000 Sinti and Roma were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in March 1943.
Trumpie needs Lebensraum, that’s for sure.
Did Joseph Geubbels write that? Just curious.
In Mein Kampf, Hitler dedicated a full chapter to outlining the need for the new "living space" for Germany. He claimed that achieving Lebensraum required political will, and that the Nazi movement ought to strive to expand population area for the German people and acquire new sources of food…

Spoke with Mark Carney to congratulate him on his election.

It was the perfect opportunity to reaffirm the strength of the 🇪🇺🇨🇦 bond and the many opportunities that lie ahead.

We discussed how to build on the success of CETA and agreed to explore deeper cooperation on defence and economic security.
Never mind Canada or Mexico.
He’s destroying the country from within.
Thanks. I’ve known Michael for years. Not that it matters.

Why should we not forget the Holocaust?
🧵 1/n
Because it was one of the most horrific crimes in human history.
Because it was committed by one of the most advanced countries in the world, disproving the idea that more advanced societies are inherently more moral than less advanced societies.
On May 4, 1940, Rudolf Höss was appointed commander of Auschwitz.

That’s it.

In 1928 Mátyás Seiber (born #OTD in 1905) became director of the jazz department at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt offering the first academic jazz courses. It was closed by the Nazis in 1933 so Seiber left Germany eventually settling in London.

And so, the takeover has been completed.
You all should have voted as if your life depended on it.
Now, it’s too late for whining.
Besides, at least on Twitter/X, I got a lot more response. My followers were far more engaged than here on Bluesky.
I did post this one on Bluesky, but all of the footage in this thread was labelled as ‘disturbing media’. So I removed the whole thread altogether.
Both of course. I’ve been trying to warn people that democracy should never be taken for granted. Hitler won’t come back, but someone or something similar was bound to happen again.
4/4 Because it demonstrated the evil of the logical conclusions of racism and eugenics.
