Do me a favor, put your phone down and go tell your partner, kids or whoever needs to hear it that you love them. Don't wait till later. Do it now. Call them. Hug them. Life can be over in a literal heartbeat 💓.
That, and also the fact that she will be allowed to compete again in 3 years. #lifetimeban
I agree, it's my favorite distance. It has a marketing problem, though, because it's just "half" of something. It should have a different name and (more) dedicated races, and not be mixed with marathons as a side effect.
Here’s why I love the half marathon:

It’s the Goldilocks race.

Not the all-out burn of a 5K.

Not the soul-grind of a full.

Just right.

And...

Tough enough to demand discipline.

Train smart (not just hard), and the half will make you faster, stronger, and sharper than you’ve ever been.
I'll happily return – ideally with a time qualifier – again once the political situation has improved. That also includes potential future trips to Boston. Until then I'll stick to European venues for marathoning. #marathon
Just got the email from the Chicago Marathon to sign up for 2026 with my deferred guaranteed entry (from this year). Very tempting, but
a) 2026 is going to be a summer of speed (3k - 10k)
b) the US of A are not safe to travel to and don't deserve my money 😥
Sounds like a typical Marathon to me 🤣
We have two cats, they don't count ;-)
In other news, my wife and I are officially empty-nesters.
A tempo run in disguise. 10 x (3' sub threshold, 1 ' float). What a fun Sunday. #running
On today's menu: an easy hour run, then some taxi service for the daughter, then some tree felling for the in-law.
Well done! Progress is a wonderful thing, isn't it?
Nice one. Was there rest between the 1200 or is that a steady progression?
I just had a rare 1:1 quality time with my coach on my run (he's also doing our company's #run class every Thursday night and once in a while nobody else signs up). There's something to be said for letting it rip while getting a pep talk 😉. On the cooldown we talked about next season. Im pumped. 💪
Happy anniversary!
Hello darkness my old friend. Stunner of a fall sundowner, but I still have to get my head around how quickly it gets dark. #running
Yes, so much yes to this. Read the 🧵and adhere to it. Your future, in particular your first, marathon performance(s) will thank you later.
Race week can mess with your head.

You’ve trained for weeks—maybe months—and now the taper hits. You feel restless. Nervous. Tempted to “do something.”

That’s exactly when smart runners screw up.

Here’s your race-week don’t list 👇
Thank you, Mario! Keep an eye out for the next parts (or subscribe to the newsletter/blog, you'd be number 5 😅).
Machen die schneller oder sehen die nur exlusiv aus?
It's just incredibly hard to bank the energy without also letting it influence your pace. But yes, banking time does not work.
How did it go? Ran Chicago in 2015, fond memories!
Loved that blog post! Good luck for the taper, stay healthy, and fingers crossed for perfect running weather in Dublin!
Data nerd meets marathon runner. The spreadsheets never lie. 📊🏃
