They must head through time in order to learn about history - so not to fail their upcoming test - otherwise humanity will be doomed! Direction Directed by Stephen Herek in one of his earliest films. Plot Jeff is a 30 year old "man child" who still lives at home in his mothers basement. On a day like no other, he gets a wrong phone call for someone looking for "Kevin", so while out running an errand for his mother, starts to search for "Kevin". On his journey, he bumps into his brother Pat, who is going through a crisis with his relationship with wife Linda - who might be cheating on him. Meanwhile their mother Sharon is having her own crisis, as she discovers that one of her colleagues is her secret admirer.

Plot Six years after surviving the events at the Texas farm house, Maxine Minx is now a famous adult film star. She is desperate to make it out, and into mainstream film. Winning an audition to be in a new film, she is ecstatic. But the arrival of a mysterious stranger who is following her on behalf of his 'employer', as well as the gruesome murders carried out by 'The Night Stalker' look to hamper her rise to fame. Direction Directed by Ti West, it is the finale (?) film in the trilogy in regards to the characters of Maxine and Pearl.

Plot Industrialist Xavier Heimdal, has gone rogue, and has ordered his subordinate Jan Strook to create a program to give access to the worlds nuclear missiles. Strook unable to go through with it, hands himself and the program over to CIA agent Bill Pope. Heimdal finds Pope, but kills him before Pope can tell Heimdal where Strook is. Now Pope's boss, Quaker, requests Dr Franks, to take Pope's memories, and implant them into sociopath Jericho. As Pope's memories start flooding into Jericho, so does Pope's ability to show empathy and compassion, something Jericho has never felt before.

Plot During WW2, a team of battle fatigued soldiers have been together for years. They, command an M4 Sherman tank under the leadership of Lt Don Collier. They are given a series of orders which they perform willingly. When they suffer a devastating loss, they are given a new team member; Norman who they instantly despise due to his limited wartime experience. As the weeks go on, their missions become more deadly - and one may soon be their last... Direction Directed by David Ayer (who also wrote), the '1940s' aesthetic is somewhat weaker compared to other films set in the same era (SPR, TRL etc).

Plot Following the death of his father, 17 year old Andy and his younger step sister Piper are taken in by a foster mother, Laura. She has recently lost her own daughter Cathy in a backyard drowning accident. Laura comes across loving and loyal - to Piper, but colder, and almost condescending to Andy. Could it be because of his past when he was younger? Or is there something more sinister at play, especially when it comes to the mute other foster child Ollie?? Direction Directed by the Australia brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, and is their follow up to Talk to Me, which I have just reviewed.

Plot Four years ago Lincoln Rhyme was NYC's most revered crime scene investigator, however a devastating accident left him a quadriplegic and retired. A serial killer has made themselves known, and the police are at a loss to the evidence left behind. They ask Rhyme for help, and he requests the gutsy Amelia Donaghy to work with them since she discovered the first victim, and "worked the scene". Direction Directed by Phillip Noyce, there are some clever uses of camera work at times that are almost askew - to act as Lincolns line of sight as he is confined to a bed for the majority of the film.

Plot Two years after the sudden death of her mother, Mia has inserted herself into the family of her best friend Jade, younger brother Riley, and mother Sue. They go to a party one night, where local popular teens Hayley and Joss dare people to play a game. The game is to hold the embalmed statue of a hand, asking it to "talk to me" which reveals a ghostly apparition. They must then say "I let you in" where the ghost "takes over". However if you go over 90 seconds, there could be serious consequences!

Plot Between 2018 and 2020 in the United States, a prolific serial killer went on a multi state killing spree that ended when a man and a woman go on a date, and things... go badly... for a lot of people... Direction The second film to be directed (and written by) JT Mollner, I loved his work. Choreographed by Giovanni Ribisi, the way the camera is used is brilliant. From the central framing, to the use of colours (the blue lighting in "chapter one" - and a few long takes - this was a great homage to the exploitation and Grindhouse type films of the 70's.

Plot In 1927, Ma Rainey is a no nonsense blues singer, who has been hired to record a series of songs at a recording studio in Chicago . Arriving some time before her are her band members including her longtime companions Cutler, Toledo and Slow Drag. The newest member of the group, Levee has grand plans for his future, having even written his own version of Ma Rainey's popular song 'Black Bottom'. His fellow band members think his ambitious attitude are not fit for their tight nit crew, and fight with him to record Ma's version of the song.

Plot In 1932, two brothers Elijah "Smoke" and Elias "Stack" Moore, return to their native Mississippi town, with stolen money from Chicago gangsters. They buy a local sawmill from a wealthy landowner - and decide to open up a Juke Joint for their fellow black community. With help of their cousin Sammie "Preacherboy", and other musicians in the community - the night goes off well, with only a slight financial hiccup... But then something sinister is lurking in the shadows, is about to make its presence known. Direction Directed by Ryan Coogler, this is clearly a passion project of his.

Plot Beth is a writing teacher who once wrote her memoir, and is now writing her second book, this time a piece of fiction. Her publisher has told her she needs rewrites, and her husband Don, a therapist discusses her selling it to another publisher instead. One day, Beth overhears Don telling his brother in law (Beth's sisters husband) that he does not care for the book, which causes Beth to lose faith in Don, and herself. Cast/Characters Julia Louis Dreyfus, who is arguably one of the best female comedienne's of all time absolutely nails the dramatic chops needed for such a role.

Plot In 1961, young music aficionado Bobby Dylan travels to New York to meet a musical idol of his, Woody Guthrie who is battling Huntington's Disease.. Plot In 2003, Harlow, Maine, thirteen year old Craig Poole, begins reading to reclusive billionaire John Harrigan, as Harrigan's eyesight is failing. Over the years they develop a friendship. In 2008, after winning money in one of his yearly lotto tickets from Harrigan, Craig buys him a phone so they can stay connected better. Not long after Harrigan passes away, and Craig buries him with the phone. Not long after, Craig messages his old friend to say thanks for the friendship - and is surprised to get a reply. Direction…

Plot In 1934, Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson is release from prison, and heads back to his neighbourhood in Harlem. He discovers that a mobster named Dutch Schultz is now made himself known to the neighbourhood, and is threatening Bumpy's former boss Madame Queen's illegal lotto "numbers game". Tensions rise, as does the body count, as Bumpy along with his associates try to get Madame's game back, as well as the neighbourhood. Directing Fairly flawless direction, from Bill Duke (Mac from Predators). It perfectly encapsulates the period of what Harlem in the mid 1930's would have been.

Plot Superman has been the savior of man kind for years, despite the hostility of tech giant and arms billionaire Lex Luthor, who constantly works against him. When Luthor discovers a lost message from Superman's parents, that suggest he become the ruler of earth instead of saviour, the world turns on him. Superman, along with Lois and the Justice Gang, now try to find a way to clear Superman's name. Direction A crisp, clean look, with fairly fluid dissolve from ultra HD looking CGI in scenes where superman battles the many villains he faces - to the 'normalcy' of life (Clark at work etc).

Plot Danny's mentor and 'one of the eleven' Reuben - is double crossed on a new casino opening by billionaire Willy Bank, so Danny and the rest of the eleven decide to get even. When their plans come awry financially, they turn to the last person they thought they would ever reach out to... Terry Benedict. Direction Third (and final?) film in the series, is once again directed by Steven Soderbergh. It is is a vast improvement on the second film, with a more retro like feel of 'old Hollywood' and Vegas.

Plot Following the death of Tracy, James returns to work - and is asked to investigate a potential Direction Directed by Guy Hamilton, this is his second of four films. There is some well choreographed action sequences, as well as car chases etc which I quite enjoyed. Two of note are the fight between Bond and Franks in the elevator, and then the car chase through old Vegas. Cast/Characters Sean Connery is back as Bond, in his sixth and final outing. Jill St John plays Tiffany Case, one of the Bond girls, and the primary diamond smuggler Bond works with.

Plot In Yorkshire, UK, Helen and Peter are a husband and wife have two mid-late teens, Clara and Rowan. They are also Vampires, who have abstained from their life. When Clara's 'becoming' commences, Peter calls his identical twin brother Will, who lives more welcoming of his 'vapirism' to assist. Cast/Characters Kelly Macdonald plays Helen, Damien Lewis plays Peter/Will, Bo Bragason plays Clara and Harry Baxendale plays Rowan. Breakdown The film was directed by Euros Lyn a UK television director. With no real "main" character - the family each have a mini arc throughout the film.

Plot It's 1997 LA, and the war between the police and the Colombian population has hit an all time high. The FBI have been called in, as there have been multiple fatalities on both sides, and it looks to be witchcraft related. Rogue, no rule taking cop Mike Harrigan thinks there might be something else at play - and it could be supernatural. Direction Directed by Stephen Hopkins, it was filmed in 1990 - but set in 1997. It has a very 1980s aesthetic feel to it. There is some good "Predator" action, especially in the third act.

Plot In 1979 a group of six wannabe porn stars and film makers, head to a small farm in Texas to film it. Once there, tensions rise, as the three very different couple dynamics switch. There is also the problem with the elderly couple who own the farm in which they are staying. Direction Near perfect direction from Ti West. He perfectly captures the look and feel of the late 1970's, and his use of graphic imagery, as well as setting up scenes of terror are breathtaking. Cast/Characters Mia Goth steals the show in twin roles.
