I have this feeling that there has been a lot of historical erasure of queer folk (mostly unintentional) by people taking an ambiguous word from a dead language and presuming the context because of their own identity... /3

Desperately I want to know what the ACTUAL Akkadian word is used on tablet VIII when Gilgamesh 'covers his head like a bride'.
Call me paranoid, but the 1990's translation is feeling veeeeery 'they were just friends' and I do not trust a straight classicist... sorry but I don't! /2

Some may shout 'psyop' and yeah, it can be, but what I see is more basic. People wanting a 'win' a moment of 'clout' over integrity. That human weakness sadly crosses political lines.

I'm probably naive and gullible. I'll admit it; I'm not built for a world where you can't trust anything you see or hear.
But whilst it IS a minority, I hate to see people seemingly pushing for equality and justice using these tactics. It's destabilising.

I expect the extreme right to lie. But I'm exhausted when I see the left editing images, using AI and misrepresenting things. The truth is enough, we don't need to stoop to the level of liars and tyrants.

One day, maybe I won't be able to tell. Maybe I'm already being duped. But when I do spot AI art, its not really because it's 'bad' anymore. It's because some frightened mammalian part of me recognises something... dangerous. Something off-putting.

I know it's not the point. But AI art has this really unique kind of ugliness to it. Even when it's vibrant, or convincing... when you look carefully there is this terrifying absence: Looking into the eyes of an AI avatar is like putting a small part of your soul into a meat grinder.
