That’s an amazing cover - if I was in a book shop I’d pick it up…

Good morning - moving forward a millennia or so this week with “Venetian Vespers” by John Banville. Lots of indignant / unaware Englishness so far and turn of the century atmosphere
Painting of Venice at night, gondoliers in the foreground and towers and waterfront buildings in the background

I really enjoyed “One battle after another”, mainly because in my head I was reliving the 80’s and watching The A-Team

House of leaves is one of those you have to read it once books for me - but a great journey

I’ve enjoyed his other books so hope you have a good read. Seems very prolific

That’s a great title

I’m enjoying it - not sure what I’d compare it to maybe Bernard Cromwell - last kingdom books. 1/3 through and would say worth a read but haven’t checked if there is a sequel

Morning - just started “Sword of the war god” by Tim Hodkinson - it has started with battles and intrigue - so far so good

The Long Walk was surprisingly good, I didn’t get used to them falling and it cuts right at just the right moment.

Recommend “Clown Town” by Mick Herron - doesn’t disappoint. Now on to “Deadwood” by Peter Cozzens which is very readable and if you ever watched the show you can’t help but hear their voices in your head. Long live Al Swearengen…

20 minutes shivering on the train platform as the taxi was early….Autumn is real

Morning, feeling the autumn chill. Finished “How to win an information war” by Peter Pomerantsev and recommend (the story of a u-boat captain surrendering as he heard he was a new father on the radio but hadn’t been home in the last year was excellent). Now “Clown Town” by Mick Herron is
Silhouetted digger with briefcase walking through the pouring rain on a street corner with a crossing. “mick Herron” in red text and “Clown Town” in white Picture of Hitler with radio towers and signals surrounding
