Was just at the BBR en primeur tasting for burgundy, and honestly the quality of the '23 vintage is pretty astonishing, be sure to stock up if you can, heard that '24 might be in very short supply

It has been a hard year for the wine industry, especially in the UK, but the important thing to remember at the end of the day, is that wine is still bloody lovely

A little Thompson Christmas tradition, a full English in a single bite! Paired with champagne, of course!

Sodding hail!

One of the many trials you encounter with making wine in the Andes.

Looking at about a 40% crop loss, for the vintage; and a lot more triage work at harvest.

Whatever was in these bottles, others with the same labels were produced from different grapes elsewhere in Soviet Union, including a 'wine factory' near Moscow.

V cool - Roman wine barrels!
XXL transport containers: Two huge #Roman wooden barrels in an outstanding state of preservation, found in Xanten. Both had a capacity of approx. 1250 l and were used to transport #wine from the Mediterranean region to the Lower Rhine. They were recycled for lining wells.1/2

Doesn't look like there is much of a #whisky community on bluesky right now but I'm going to try to post about my journey to become a #distiller
