Spotted in my FB feed. Who is telling family members that posting about ship positions will extend a deployment?
There's a difference between reminding people to be responsible and scaring them unnecessarily. Is this guidance ombudsmen are passing to families?

USS Theodore Roosevelt is not deployed. They're underway doing workups. Deployed strike groups are Ford and Lincoln and technically George Washington (which is always deployed but currently getting wrenched on in Japan and not ready to go).

The Navy is "not walking away from ASW" but few deatils on how this is gonna work.
There's a Connex boxmarked ASW on the slide.

Asking for me, when's the last time anyone has seen USS Lewis Puller?

Here’s our best crack at the first story. A lot of questions remain on how the operation worked in terms of suppression of enemy air defense and what role the Marines and the aircraft carrier in the region played.

Ah yes, the same editorial board that called the Virginia-class submarine - purpose built for the post Soviet era - a Cold War relic in 2008.
Even the idea that it can’t dominate the Taiwan Strait is questionable. It’s still in a league of its own and even the PLA will tell you that.

The gang parsed the 100s of pages of investigations released today and there's a lot here. The reports did confirm earlier narratives from the pilots, which allowed us to use this quote:
“Yooooo that shit is crazy, I can’t believe they’re shooting a drone down.”

My favorite thing from the Marines doc so far is Chelsea Yarnell's large-format candids from the 31st MEU.

Can anyone ID this camera so I can know how far out of my price range it is?

PENDANTIC NIT: Seen this from a bunch of other pubs but it's worth noting that SOUTHCOM AOR isn't necessarily 'Latin American waters'
The edge of SOUTHCOM is less than 400 miles from Cape Verde, which is much closer to Africa than South America.
