It seems like since the new year, Monday meetings expired and nobody noticed. Other days are busy, but looking at my next few Mondays - completely empty. I am not in a rush to say anything though.

I vortex seems to have sucked all my meetings up tomorrow. That one thing is just a reminder to do something and not work-related.

Took her 2 great grandsons to see her in 2025, she was very happy about that. She also has some great great grand children. Big family!

I keep saying, my grandmother turned 99 last week and she has no health issues, although her eyesight has got worse...

I've been on there since I joined here too. It's quieter, but also no drama.

I feel very fortunate to have lived 46 years without needing to take anything!

A minute is relative to which side of the bathroom door you are on when you need a piss.

Another spin on it - make family films into horror films, just using your face...

I would have to thank my Italian colleagues for getting me fluent in 9 months. At 6 months, I was not confident, then my boss said "Every lunch time, we will only speak Italian" - lunch was 2.5 hours. We did this for a few months and bingo. They said my vocab was ready for proper convos.

I think your friend is onto something!

Delicious!

The irony was, I was at a pizza resaurant and the girl I was talking to was actually Italian, but had French as a second language and fully understood me!

I think immersion is key. My Italian is more natural because I lived there. French is something I studied and I have been to French speaking countries on a regular basis. When I was in Belgium last year, I was trying to speak French on day one, but spoke Fritalian. When blanking I went Italian!

* not that good!

For me, when in a French speaking place, I can obviously switch back to English easily. If in UK, I find it hard to engage my French. It takes me about 2 days being immersed in a language (e.g. in France) before I feel comfortable again. I guess I am just that good or well practiced.

One thing I will say is that the train conductor person who accompanied the train from Basel to Locarno, she could speak all languages and was the most polite and happy person you could meet!

It's the lack of knowledge when your mum says "Oh, I got rid of that massive cupboard of Star Wars crap. This guy was really happy to take it off us for free!"

I thought that Swiss people would speak all 3 main languages and was surprised that they could not speak English (German people can, but I guess they were not German as such). So they spoke only German and the shop keeper spoke Italian and a bit of English.
