Today we bid a sad farewell to our Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 washing machine. It lived a long 15 years and served us well. That'll do, Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300. That'll do.

Played (and finished) Gris for the first time. Not much of a platformer, but it is a beautiful piece of animation.

I think you're using a very different definition of band. It's more like if someone said "I'm in a band", would you ever think they could possibly be referring to a boy band?

Important question to resolve a disagreement in my house: Is a "boy band" a "band"?

Discuss.

Those are indeed two things I love.

Okay, I’ve posted enough now. But the question is, will this be the impetus to get me back to posting regularly like I used to on Twitter or will I just fade back into the background again? Tune in next time for the answer! (Or not, if it’s the second one)

There’s all of a sudden a lot of bees on a particular section of my street that’s part of where I normally walk the dog. Can someone take care of that please? Thanks.

For anyone keeping track, I’ve fully converted from my beloved MATCH/INDEX combination to XLOOKUP in Excel. I’m just annoyed there wasn’t some sort of global announcement when XLOOKUP came out because I would have transferred much sooner if I had known.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Puffins are still garbage birds.

After years of wanting to, I finally played Stanley Parable. It has a lot to say, and I don’t think I really understood a lot of what it had to say, but it sure was entertaining in the process (and unexpectedly emotional a couple times?). Also, I found penguins in it twice.

I’m currently in what I think is my fourth ILS migration, second one that I’m the lead on. We’re currently in the inevitable part of the process where we’re learning the nitty gritty details and keep saying “Wait, it works like THAT???”. Fun times.

I’ve been working on watching a lot of time loop movies because it’s a genre I really enjoy but honestly hadn’t seen that much of. One tricky thing is that most lists of time loop movies have movies on them that don’t really have time loops and you can’t find that out until watching them.

People keep saying AI is inevitable so we need to at least be comfortable with it. I don’t think it is, though. With more and more people speaking out against it, legal challenges, and companies seemingly investing in it and not getting their money back, it might not stick around. Also, it’s dumb.

Turns out I like the band Cake. I’ve always liked when I’ve heard a few of their songs, but didn’t really get around to listening to them properly until this week. I enjoyed every album.

I was going to do some reading while waiting for my daughter’s horseback riding lesson to end, but the sun is pretty much directly in my eyes and making it tricky. Maybe I’ll just take this opportunity to make all the posts I’ve thought about but haven’t bothered doing.

It's okay, I just reprogrammed the kids.

I told my kids about the Kobayashi Maru tonight. I don't think they've ever been so unimpressed with one of my stories. Sigh.

I can't figure out what it is! I think you might need to tell me.

And I watched Edge of Tomorrow about two weeks ago!
samspenguins.bsky.social
Interesting, haven't seen anything about that one yet!
samspenguins.bsky.social
Okay, I guess if I just watch every movie ever made then eventually I'll watch that one and not be spoiled :)

Time loop movies I need to watch. Go!

Whenever someone mentions that something is a red herring, I always want to point out that it was actually communism that was a red herring, but I'm too worried they won't get the reference. I'm definitely thinking it, though.
