Just published. A Turkish-language history of the Soviet Union, written with @onurisci.bsky.social. Somewhat in the way that Dan Diner asked in Cataclysms how 20th-century history might be told looking out from Odesa, we approach Soviet history with Turkish connections/comparisons in mind.
Having spent years rewriting a dissertation that was too narrowly focused on interwar Soviet-Turkish relations to make it more international, I am thrilled to have received the #AHA26 book prize in European international history. The list of past winners contains many of the works that inspired me.
The AHA is pleased to announce the winners of its 2025 prizes, which honor exceptional books, distinguished teaching and mentoring in the classroom, public history, and other historical projects. Congratulations to the 2025 awardees! #AHAPerspectives🗃️
