Meanwhile...in Canada it is National Truth for Reconciliation Day. We are taking at least a day from work to acknowledge the atrocities committed on Indigenous people. I am forever grateful that they've given us an olive branch, and slowly, but surely we are mending ties + learning a lot. Thank you.

Canadians aren't "nice." We are a polite and tolerant society. Which does enable nice things, which does tend to make people want to act nice. But we aren't naturally or inherently nice. If you spend enough time around us, you'll quickly witness how caustic we can be.

One of the most invalidating things about men writing female characters is that they never express the female rage we all feel when exploring what makes that character who she is and how she moves / navigates through said world they are building...
