Okay, whose idea was it to make the COSMOS field so big?!
Every time I go through the catalog, my tiny brain is convinced I've done something wrong because there are just SO MANY GALAXIES 🤯😱🤩
Please help

NEW PAPER: I have discovered that up to half of all black holes that shred a star "burp" material years after the initial event and turn on in radio!!! No one was expecting this, and we don't really understand why this might be! 🤩🔭🧪

Ubiquitous Late Radio Emission from Tidal Disruption Events
We present radio observations of 23 optically-discovered tidal disruption events (TDEs) on timescales of about 500-3200 days post-discovery. We detect 9 new TDEs that did not have detectable radio...

Appropriate that this overview of JWST's first year of science by Joel Achenbach ends with me crying over galaxies 🔭🧪
NASA is marking the first anniversary of the James Webb Space Telescope’s scientific debut with the release of a new image, demonstrating the telescope’s ability to re-envision the universe.

Second galaxy to the right and straight on until cosmic dawn! This video takes you on a journey through our CEERS JWST images and cosmic history. Every second we travel 200 Million lightyears into the past on our way to Maisie's Galaxy which existed ~13.4 Billion years ago!
CEERS: Flight to Maisie's Galaxy
This 3D visualization portrays about 5,000 galaxies within a small portion of the CEERS (Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science) Survey, which gathered data ...

We found the most distant (to-date) active black hole at the center of a galaxy ~570 Myrs after the Big Bang (>13.2B yrs ago)!! 🧪

Now with an official press release and fancy graphics from the fine people at Space Telescope Science Institute and NASA 😍
Webb Detects Most Distant Active Supermassive Black Hole to Date
Researchers have discovered the most distant active supermassive black hole to date with the James Webb Space Telescope. The galaxy, CEERS 1019, existed just over 570 million years after the big bang,...
