Fuck them.

I’m definitely going to be out on 10/18.

Fuck them.

I didn’t intend to suggest said that, though I could have been clearer that I was being sarcastic. In light of his remarks during the Ninth Circuit, I was imagining how he might have reacted to the statement.

Is it so much that they were true as a matter of law, or is that the factual content of the answers was literally true, even if misleading or evasive relative to the point the questioner was trying to make?

Entirely as an aside, it’s comical to see Trump himself expressly excluded from the scope of the TRO.

Okay you orange tub of crap, you’re free to hop on AF1, fly to Chicago, grab yourself a gun and start kicking some ass. Go to it, big boy.

It’s stomach-churning to see district courts confront, very directly, the lies about their communities being told by the federal government, only to see appellate courts insist that they shut up and eat Trump’s shit sandwich of lies.

And atop it all sits SCOTUS, the greatest reality-denier of all.

What the fuck? Hagiography for this corrupt little prick?

While — let us never, ever forget — telling Trump that he will never face criminal exposure for anything he does, so long as he can slap the “executive action” label on it.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

We’ll see if she gets it. It would be a very fine thing if they bounced it.

Yes, with a giant tiara.

Reductions north of 100% mean we’re into refund land, and I guess I need to tell them where to send my check.

I am entirely prepared to believe that he, like nearly all of them, is thicker than pigshit.
saukfish.bsky.social
Well, it may be evidence that he’s stupid, but it may also just affirm that he’s entirely comfortable saying this out loud, for attribution, in America in 2025.

After all, he’s just describing a Kavanaugh Stop.
saukfish.bsky.social
This is Brett Kavanaugh’s world.

The odds of anything like regular elections in 2026 is about 50/50, and far, far less than that for 2028.

The endgame for all of this is the violent neutralization of political threats to Trump, with election results being the most obvious.

And THAT is all driven by his fear of dying in prison.

I see that my hands now sort of look like that, but it’s because my fingers are crossed so hard, hoping for bad news, that I’ve done this to myself.

This is a pretty concise summary of the federal government’s current orientation toward American cities that haven’t proven their political loyalty to Donald Trump.

Hamilton’s performance on behalf of the DOJ today in Chicago, combined with Judge Nelson’s horrifying remarks during the Ninth Circuit argument on the Portland appeal, make this a pretty bad day for the rule of law . . . and for the idea of truth generally in 2025.

If federal courts have no power to declare that the sky is blue when the POTUS says it’s rainbow (and that we thus have to use the 82nd Airborne to repel the gay invasion), we simply have no reason for a federal judiciary that does anything but put people in jail and resolve contract disputes.

Hopes and conclusions tethered to fact are an increasingly rare commodity these days. 🤨
saukfish.bsky.social
I wish the fact that this execrable man occupies this position wasn’t evidence of how . . . debased . . . our culture, or at least large parts of it, has become, but I’m afraid it is.

This is responsible on Perry’s part. The more narrowly-tailored her injunction is — the more specific it is to things that actually have happened or that are known to be imminent — the more defensible it is on appeal. It’s not great lawyering to ask for the moon in this context.

You do not want to delve too deeply into Judge Ryan Nelson’s views, as expressed during today’s Ninth Circuit argument (he’s a Trump appointee).

His ANGRY insistence that the district court agree with (or at least not dispute) the executive’s claim that 2 + 2 = a banana was . . . very chilling.
saukfish.bsky.social
I hope it was really, really painful for him.

I wouldn’t say it’s entirely incoherent. Government would, in fact, scarcely exist for those willing to conform their sexuality to the fundamentalist line, but the police power must exist to enforce that line. “Libertarians” always reserve police power to preserve their, you know . . . liberty.
