These have grown vigorously so I shouldn’t be surprised but barely 24 hours later they were ready and some starting to drop spores so it’s harvest time 🍄💊

I know id really enjoy the process. Yes I had a look a while back and it was gonna be a few hundred quid just to get started. I also don’t have much space but I already make geometric art with card and pens and gold gilt so it’s not too different :)

After a week or so after introducing oxygen and light into the monotub we can see pins forming on the surface. These are primordial fruits that will soon grow into mushrooms 🍄

Well it’s time to start fruiting the autumn bags and monotub.

Here I’ve got a tube heater behind the cardboard and a humidifier with controllers that keep the tent at around 22c and 95% humidity.

The bags have an air slit cut and the tub has open ends with sticky disc filters.

Mushroom tent upgrades fitted for the colder weather.

Tent ambient temp between 23c and 26c is best. Once the CVG and inoculated grain has fully colonised we let some oxygen in and turn on the lights at 12:12. This triggers the fruiting. Fruits prefer a little lower ambient temps to grow best. 🍄

Spraying sterile water once a day helps keep the substrate damp which speeds up fruiting. Automatic humidity control is useful and these are WiFi smart enabled so I can change the settings on my phone if needed.

And nearly a week after breaking the mycelium apart and shaking the bag up we have full colonisation.

This will now be 3kg of substrate so I’ll be using the mono tub method for these Jedi Mind Fuck, my favourite cubensis.

Over the next few weeks this will colonise the CVG then we fruit! 🍄

A 1.5kg bag of sterile defrosted soil vermiculite and coir on a counter with a 1.5kg solid block of white mycelium covering the grains in a bag on the right. It’s been the perfect temp (around 24/25c) average so this colonised this bag super fast!
