Like our politicians aren't perfect, the system of politics is corrupt at its core, but our political parties are more 'there is a monkey in their brains smashing money cymbals' than 'we love god but are above the law so it's fine to be racist, bigoted, homophobic r4pists'

doesn't antifa just mean antifascist

any excuse to share my fav wedding photo
Image of a wedding portrait photo. The background is a wall with brightly coloured grafitti tags, bubble letters in white with black and pink borders. The word is hidden by the central figures, man and woman on their wedding day. The man has dyed blonde hair and wears an ivory suit, black collared shirt, and golden bolo tie secured at the centre. The bolo tie is gold, in the shape of a horse-shoe, and has floral accents. The woman has pink hair with a blunt cut fringe, wears a mesh dress with diamontes, and red bracelets. She holds a floral bouquet of bright pink flowers and red roses, and they are showing off gold and emerald wedding rings on their ring fingers.

I think even Grammarly is useless for fiction anyway, bc it lacks the nuance of a human person. Great for speeding up mundane work tasks in my office life, and I utilise it on the work desktops, but I won't touch it for anything in study (research essays) or writing. It's not suitable for it.

I think I'd end up so restless if I didn't have something to write during revision!

Sooo I need to know: Are my fellow #booksy writers working on multiple manuscripts at once, or do you stick to one at a time? I'm a multi-work writer; I need the variation. I find having time away from work helps with writer's block and gives me plenty of time to let my scenes settle! 💙📚

tv series are a different ballpark - bc of the rating system which they WANT to impose on books, which is a horrifying idea! #booksky #📚💙

1. human science experiments
2. victorian sci-fi boarding school
3. gothic but make it futuristic body horror
4. camping nightmares and aliens
5. middle grade cozy fantasy series based on stories my toddler child tells me about our cat lloool

Also, super late to the party, but I love 'zombie' media. It's never about the perceived threat. #28yearslater exemplifies this: toxic masculinity, false heroes, familial bonds, and generational trauma. Can't believe it took me so long to catch it!

Ok, how did I never think about writing a sci-fi spec fic set in a Victorian-build boarding school when I write sci-fi spec fic... and attended to a Victorian-build boarding school... lmao this is FUN 📚💙 🪐📚 #booksky

If you're seeing encouragement/demands to do alt text and you're overwhelmed or confused about how to do it and you're worried you're going to do it wrong...

this thread is for you.

First: prompt questions to get you started.
ebthen.bsky.social
Alt text prompt Qs:

What would someone who can't see the image need to know about it in order to take part in the conversation? What is it about this image that made you choose it? What are the important details someone who could see the image would take away from it?

(Not for images of text.)

It certainly takes some getting used to, but it's definitely worth it! My university lecturer just told us to type in a search on YouTube, as there are plenty of resources, which I found super helpful!

Friendly reminder that bsky has an option to turn on 'alt text' for all images, and it will not let you post until you have popped that in. Very very helpful if you're forgetful like I am, and a quick and easy path to helping the internet be accessible for all :-) #booksky #💙📚

Looking for Alaska. Funnily enough, I remember reading this and thinking they were all tame for supposed 'rebels'. Just goes to show the adult disconnect with how teenagers behave, as it was deemed 'unsuitable' for the age group. Read #bannedbooks ! #booksky #bookchallenge #💙📚 #politicalbooks 6/?
Book cover of 'Looking for Alaska,' written by John Green. A solid black background, with a thin trail of white smoke curling from a recently extinguished candle which appears at the bottom of the image. The words 'a novel' appear beside the smoke. The title, 'Looking for Alaska,' appears in white, lowercase type and is outlined by a red rectangle, centered at the bottom of the page. The author's name, 'John Green,' is printed beneath it in white text.
