The comparatively tepid media coverage of an objectively worse economy under Trump compared to Biden is as predictable as it is depressing.

Fed Governor Christopher Waller: "Job growth has probably been negative the last few months. it doesn't look like it's doing much better. I don't hear anybody with big hiring plans."

I'm sure the graduates of the BUT HER EMAILS School of Journalism will now spend the next year tearing down Trump for communicating with members of his cabinet via DMs on his social media platform 🙄

Joe Kahn basically nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace prize 🙃
scarylawyerguy.bsky.social
One of his top aides was apparently *CAUGHT ON TAPE* taking a $50,000 bribe from undercover FBI agents b/c he promised to get them government contracts and the only angle of that story you hear about is the Times musing on whether Homan can keep the money 🙃

This administration is flooding the zone so furiously that people have largely lost track of the lethal attacks on boats in the Caribbean, the gov’t shutdown, the economy, failed release of the Epstein files & so much else. It’s a tactic of would-be strongmen.

Sorry martial law was declared, but egg prices ticked up after a once-in-100-year pandemic and the President who dealt with it bored the shit out of the media who was desperate to get the guy who talked to them all the time back in office. 🙃

You're confusing a feature with a bug. AG Sulzberger and Joe Kahn made clear in 2024 they did not view the Times's role as protecting democracy. Couple that with the fact one of their political reporters has been a Trump embed for 10 years (and profiting handsomely off it!) & you get the below.

Once again @nytimes.com heds and subheds are failing to convey to readers what is actually happening. The casual reader will come away with the impression that this is a genuinely held rationale on Trump's part, rather than a corrupt pretext for lawless, authoritarian threats.

I know, it's pointless to argue with idiots, but if there was a legitimate belief that crime was out of control, Congress could, just to take one example, rejuvenate the COPS program that Bill Clinton launched in the 1990s and have the feds fund the hiring of more local police officers.

Noem: "These leaders in these local cities along with Pritzker and Johnson ignore what's going on or they're helping antifa cover it up."
scarylawyerguy.bsky.social
Hard for me to believe if some high ranking Democratic appointee was (allegedly) caught on tape taking $50K from undercover FBI agents b/c he promised to get them government contracts that the Paper of Record would frame the story as "who knew crime pays?"

A $50 billion government bailout for farmers who are impacted by Trump's tariffs and one of the biggest beneficiaries will be his Treasury Secretary. Same folks who otherwise call this stuff socialism but hypocrisy is their game and shoulder shrugging it off is the media's.

The quintessential right wing move of the modern day. Say the most inflammatory shit on social media and then when you're confronted with said inflammatory shit act shocked SHOCKED that anyone would accuse you of anything untoward.

Q: You called the judge's ruling 'legal insurrection.' Are you recommending the president take action against judges who rule against him?

STEPHEN MILLER: No. It's simply a factually accurate statement

It's cute how we pretend that the refs aren't on the take. Like, quietly and then suddenly, right wing billionaires basically took over the entire media landscape and the idea you can just run a 1990s playbook of fact checking press conferences with THIS version of journalists is a pipe dream.

Dems need to fight to grow these poll numbers, but Trump and the GOP are outmaneuvering them in media. Schumer and Jeffries MUST facilitate daily press briefings from the Capitol to fact check Trump, provide content for media, control the agenda, and put Trump and MAGA GOP on the defensive.

The irony of Trump using "DEI" to purge the upper ranks at the Pentagon of women and men of color and suing colleges if they god forbid have a diversity office is that Bari Weiss has ZERO QUALIFICATIONS to be the EIC of CBS News. Like, the poster child for a DEI hire!

The NYT's Michael Grynbaum reported that this is the note that Bari Weiss sent to CBS News staffers this morning (1/2)

Wow, the New York Post is really going after Mamdani ... sorry, I'm being told this is the New York *Times* 🙃

I wonder which the media will ignore harder, that Trump officials seriously considered sending the 82nd Airborne into Portland or another example of Trump officials casually using messaging apps to discuss sensitive information.

The assumption that the American body politic would reflexively reject stuff you see in third world dictatorships turned out to be complete bullshit
scarylawyerguy.bsky.social
"politics" doing A LOT of work in this headline 🙄

Could not imagine having dedicated my entire adult life to the military - been sent all around the world, fought in wars, and the untold stress it placed on my family - and rise to the top of the ranks only to have to listen to this guy. I don't think I could handle it.

Trump: I am a very aesthetic person. I don't like some of the ships you are doing aesthetically. They say it is stealth. That's not stealth. An ugly ship is not necessary in order to say you are stealth.

A lot (all?) of the media's coverage of Kirk's killing focused on the shooter's ideology. Fine. But seems weird the NYT buried this little nugget about the guy who killed 4 people at a Mormon Church at the end of the story and also immediately discounted its relevance. 🤔

The Ryder Cup is a perfect microcosm for America in 2025 - overhyped, performatively chesty, whiny, and boorish. IOW, a 'complete embarrassment'

I hate to say it, but she is not ready for prime time. I have a REALLY bad feeling she is going to blow the NJ governor's race. Getting pummeled on TV and social media and not doing much other than blah blah I was a helicopter pilot. Ain't gonna cut it in NJ this year.

Mikie Sherrill on Hegseth meeting andwhy such a rotten idea
scarylawyerguy.bsky.social
As to Trump, none of this matters b/c no matter how corruptly he is attempting to interfere in the process, John Roberts handed him a magic immunity cloak for any of his official acts

The Times is a fundamentally broken institution as it relates to politics. Book reviews? Still great. Love Wirecutter. Do the crossword every day, but this headline is so laughable on its face, I can't believe it made it past an editor as if Trump *ever* cared about this.
