I think anyone who has engaged with Tom Rees, or seen him speak on SEND, would find your characterisation of him as a faceless "insider" a bit unkind and untrue.

Thanks for your advice, Dug! I wish I'd read your helpful message before I tried to cycle a cargo bike to Nairobi this summer. I hadn't realised there are different transport options available.

Your campaign is crass and lazy. You made the cheap shot to try and go viral. Maybe you could now show your ability by tackling a genuine social issue. I'm pretty sure every school near you would be delighted with your assistance in cutting down dangerous and unnecessary school-run traffic.

Being a "regular cyclist" doesn't make you immune from motornormativity - some of the most fanatical anti-traffic restrictions campaigners (Ediz, for example, who is easily found on here) are also cyclists.

Flying electric taxis will be travelling between Oxford and Cambridge next year. A six-month pilot project (geddit) aims to prepare the infrastructure and develop a business case as a first step towards “commercially viable regional operations”.

If you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

If you're a junior accountant who's bought an ugly BMW on a lease and thinks it makes you Very Superior, everything looks like a parking space. Pavements are for the little people who "walk" (losers) so they can be blocked whenever.

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

In fact it might be longer than it was in the 1990s. I expect the drift of tectonic plates has increased the distance.

This is also inaccurate because the tunnel from the Natural History Museum to South Ken tube, which I remember being endless when I was 8, is still endless now I'm 40. So ostriches must be huge.

when i asked about the dangers he told me that he was 'pretty sure he could take on a poxy ostrich', and put forward the (imo false) theory that 'the only reason people think they're big birds is because they remember seeing them at the zoo when they were a child, when they themselves were small'

On Yom Kippur many Jewish people in Britain have their phones off to mark the holy day.

As it ends at 723pm, some will hear the tragic Manchester news for the first time.

At that time, please join many of us to send a message of solidarity to British Jews. Thanks Together coalition for proposing.
To everyone in Britain's Jewish Community: you are not alone.

We will not let hate or those who spread it win.

We stand with you.

Incredible work by Laura Kuenssberg as ever, spending part of her set-piece interview with the Prime Minister talking about a field and the four donkeys which lived in it. Really focusing on the issues that matter.

To be fair to Roald Dahl, Quentin Blake and their guide to railway safety, I have *never* looked out of a train window in my life.

Oxford is to get a congestion charge of £5 per car per day, starting this autumn. Charges will be levied for driving past one of six camera sites. The decision, intended to accelerate bus services and encourage cycling/walking, was taken at an Oxfordshire County Council cabinet meeting this morning.

Great work by @age-uk.bsky.social, almost completely blocking the pavement in Pangbourne. Respect for the elderly, unless they're on foot!
