"A gut punch."

Utah is still reeling after the murder of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk. @schotthappens joins the #11thHour to discuss the reaction from communities on the ground.
Don't be surprised if the Legislature calls themselves into special session next month to move the deadline so they can appeal the gerrymandering ruling.

A Trump-aligned dark money group just dropped another $2.1 million into the campaign to repeal Prop. 4, Utah's anti-gerrymandering law.

Securing American Greatness has contributed nearly $3.3 million to the effort. So far, they are the only donor.

Legislative leaders are having a press conference this morning at 8:30. I’m told it has something to do with Utah’s new congressional map.

Hearing it could involve moving the candidate filing dates to give them more time for an appeal. There could also be an appeal directly to the US Supreme Court.

My sweet friend Murphy goes in for radiation treatment for a tumor that has started to spread into her brain tomorrow.

The last time they attempted the treatment, her heart unexpectedly stopped, so we have to try again.

I’m terribly worried, so I’m spoiling her with her favorite ice cream bar.

Remember how Utah Republicans collectively had a conniption over drag performers in the Paris Olympics opening ceremonies?

I would like to argue that the logo for the 2034 Olympics in Utah is a far worse crime against decency.

What the hell is that font? Was Wingdings unavailable.

Governor today, author tomorrow?

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox quietly filed a new disclosure last week showing Penguin Press paid him $5,000+.

That sure looks like a book advance.

Disclosure hints at book deal for Utah Governor Spencer Cox
A state conflict-of-interest filing lists a $5,000+ payment from Penguin Press to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, fueling talk of a book advance possibly tied to his rising “civility” brand.

Historical rape?

Utah Sen. John Johnson is the same guy who hired Brandon Beckham to produce his scaremongering video about CRT.

Beckham is has been charged with felony sexual abuse.

Sen. Johnson should really choose his words more carefully.

What a ham-handed attempt at scaremongering about the newly-drawn CD1.

The author claims Kathleen Riebe saying she's a "strong Democrat" means she's one step away from Zorhan Mamdani.

This argument is lazy, but it appeals to voters who aren't politically savvy.

COMER: Has socialism already reached Utah?
Time will tell whether the recent ruling by Judge Dianna Gibson that all but guarantees a Democrat will win one of Utah’s four congressional districts will hold up. But if it does, it will be extremel...

City Weekly readers just voted me #2 Best Reporter in Utah.

The establishment media outlets have bigger budgets, more staff, and corporate backing.

But they don't have what we have: independence and your support.

Let's keep it going.

She canceled a speaking engagement at Weber State because of Utah’s thought police legislation…just like the Founding Fathers wanted.
🤦🤦🤦
This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.

A rare sight in ruby red Utah: a crowded Democratic primary for a seat in Congress.

Centrist Ben McAdams is the early favorite, but his rivals have ample opportunity to run to his political left.
