Noah Gibbs was the largest engineering force behind Scarpe the last few years of his life. In honor of his memory I will be doing some hacking on it Christmas Eve.

If you’d like to hack on it as well (LLM it up if you’re new!) I can refine some nice user-friendly issues.

Hi,

I’ve found some encrypted data, or a message, embedded in a cryptic GIF from 12 years ago

I’m the first to uncover this; but I don’t really know where to start

Any experts in this space with any tips?

Might try to sell some software. Like actual software. Like you go and buy it and download it and enjoy it.

screencasts but it's just me doing screen studio with absolutely no post-processing just sharing me screen and talking about random stuff without a lot of structure but honestly you'll never know what you're gonna get

I did a thing. If you know a Rubyist or Ruby-friendly person near Belfast, let them know. Our goal is to reach the heights
@inazarova.bsky.social has achieved with SFRuby 😅

If you saw I’d published a proper book, what would you expect that book to be?

"Papillae: the surprising, hilarious and unbelievable way your tongue got its lumps and bumps"

- Schwaderer, Penguin Press, 2026

4 years. I have worked at Shopify for four years! 3 out of 4 Shopifolk are newer than me. Am I old?

It has been a joy to be on the front lines of Ruby, Rails and Commerce.

(P.S. If you'd like to learn more about my experience at Shopify, and love Ruby, DMs are open)

Matz said his favourite Ruby method was ‘eval’. What’s yours?

A few of my own words about Noah Gibbs

A little side project I know Noah would’ve thought was neat.

A television from 1979 I’ve set up (through short range analog broadcast) playing television from 1979-1981 all day long.

I just turn it on whenever and TV is going.

Video sourced from Marion Stokes archive.

When I found this out today, all I could think of saying about Noah to my wife, is that he "Got it". I just don't know how to put this into words.

We were on the same team for years, and he cofounded the Scarpe team with me. github.com/scarpe-team/...
Noah Gibbs (codefolio, YJIT team, Rebuilding Rails author) has passed away.

His big dream in life was to help build the Ruby community up. He wanted to be like the folks who worked to create the railroads during the industrial revolution.
