We wrote this to help you imagine how quickly a city can change under Trump…

Charlotte was once a place of slow, easy mornings, coffee cups clinking in cozy cafés, jazz drifting through open doors on Tryon Street, families stepping onto the light rail with strollers and soccer bags.

In my younger and more innocent days, I would hear people from other countries talk about how corrupt their governments were and how officials just stole everything in sight. I would silently wonder how an average citizen would be so confident that’s what was actually happening.

Now I believe them.
They’re all just looting the treasury now

Even so, his “win” was re: back pay that was already enshrined in law.

This is where we are as a country. Surrendering to possibly stop the admin from breaking the law.

60% of the PTC distributed nationwide - $86B of $144B - was distributed to just 9 “Trump” states.

And yet it’s the Democratic Party trying desperately to keep their fellow citizens from being fucked over by the Republicans these people so reliably vote for.

The KenCen’s website was notorious for having 10s of 1000s of people in the online box office waiting room for hours - if not days - to try to get tickets to shows like Hamilton and The Book of Mormon.

Now they have to close the balconies at a John Williams concert. Sad!

What the hell did they do to that young man once they finally wrestled him into the stairwell, outnumbering him 5:1 and probably outweighing him 10:1 or more?

Amidst everything else they’re doing, they had papers at the ready to cover the window and block any further documentation of their abuse.

Bad strategy here. Yes, strengthening protections for all fed workers is welcomed, but in this moment the admin is proving it does whatever the hell it wants to. Pass the bill to pay essential workers, send it to the House, and force them back into session to vote on it.
