Scientist and storyteller: Atmospheric Science Ph.D., software developer, and scfi/fantasy writer. I’m a weather and geosciences nerd, who loves books, comics, and RPGs. Expect me to talk about all of it. Smith College alumna. Ace demigirl. (she/they)
I also saw the pilot for Knights of Guinevere, and … I think I am going to pass. It has some decent representation and does some interesting social commentary symbolism things, but it didn’t do anything that really drew me in. (The creepy theme park vibe did the opposite, in fact).

Finally saw the end of Stranger Things! I thought it was a good ending for the series. There were a couple things in Season 5 that could have been explained better/earlier but other than that (and a character that apparently was forgotten???), it was solid. I rank seasons best-worst: 1,4,5,2,3

Accomplishment of the day: we have our spare room set up as an actual guest room now!! (Instead of a bed in my office/study)

My brain: hey, I have all these great ideas to clean up and progress the V-Fic and your big WIP!! You see, if you just do X,Y, and Z …
Me: I have to be *reworking code* right now!

(And Fridays are family dinner night, so no writing time for me until at least tomorrow)

Happy Groundhog Day! (Yes, I am a meteorologist. No, you shouldn’t trust that forecast. Yes, I still find it fun.)

No successful writing today, but I did finally get my big WIP printed out to read through and start round (5?6?) of revisions. I’ve spent 10 years on this novel, and one way or another this will be the last round of revisions. After this, I will either query it or I give up and trunk it. #amWriting

I cleaned up and posted the latest Voltron Fic chapter — actually, two chapters (I split for length >5k words). I am super excited to get this one out because 1) It’s been a pain to write and 2) It has a scene at the end that I have been building up to for OVER A YEAR. *steeples fingers* #amWriting

Went into the local city this morning to a farmer’s market where some of our favorites that vanished from our town market still sell. I gave one of them (the bao lady) a nice tip, because we hadn’t seen her in a long while and we knew she’d had oven problems. She squeed and gave me a hug (after ask)

Hey if you live in the greater Seattle area and you approve of Mayor Wilson's plan to ban ICE from using city property, vote Yes in the Komo poll. It's being flooded by right-wing bots.

Seattle mayor announces plan to block ICE activity, use police to verify federal agent IDs
Under the plan, the mayor will issue an executive order prohibiting civil federal immigration authorities from using city-owned and city-controlled properties.

There is a whole (small) herd of deer on the front lawn right now. One was watching me intently. They keep digging through the foot+ deep snow to get near where there is the rotten remains of a tree stump. I wonder what they’re after? (Unless they really like lavender I planted there?) #nature

Another chapter of the Voltron Fic is up! It’s an inserted chapter I really should have written *a while* ago, but my brain just couldn’t figure out how to make it work until now. Adding it in helps give some more perspective on one of the characters, and it has a how-they-met backstory. #amWriting

True love is: sitting in the living room with your spouse, having him spontaneously start to hum Tank! (Cowboy Bebop opening song), and joining in with the next part when he stops … only to have him pick it back up when you stop. And you just keep going like that.

All right #BookSky, I am looking for some awesome scifi to read that has some degree of focus on cool starships (any kind). Bonus points if there is a team and/or found family. It can be adult or YA (Graphic Novels are also fine). Extra bonus if published in the last 5 years. (NO Kindle books)

Blargh. Migraine today. Nothing creative happening.

I had forgotten how pretty snow is when it’s this cold. It’s currently 5F and everything is covered in glitter.

Status report: My body is tight with anticipation about snow and ICE. I was exhausted and anxious yesterday. Yet somehow, today, I managed to finish drafts of 2 Fic chapters (not from scratch) and got work done on a third. Ahh-fukItAll energy, I guess? I’ll probably be useless tomorrow. #amWriting

Me: *Looks out window. Sees it is snowing*
Me: It begins.

Slightly chilly here this morning (still not as bad as the upper Midwest. That place is COLD right now.)

I am slowly filling in this Fic chapter. I would like to do more tonight because I have the time, but I can feel my mental battery is running low. I wanted to have the Fic finished by January, but that might not be realistic, especially given the *exponential* addition of stress lately. #amWriting

Today, I have a slightly better understanding of the jury-rigged Rube Goldberg device that is our heating and hot water system, but I still have an awful lot of questions. I suggested scientific experiments to deduce more, but my husband seemed less than supportive of that plan, it being mid-winter.

Managed to write tonight after being too exhausted to do so yesterday (after two days in a row shoveling and my body hating me for unrelated reasons); but I am still tired today, so it was just Fic work that consisted of cleaning up a couple small scenes. Still, progress is progress! #amWriting

Just finished watching Gundam: Witch from Mercury and it is the *best* show I have watched in a long time. The characters are interesting, and the storytelling is tight. The visuals they use for symbolism is incredible. I 100% recommend this show. (Only downside: so many mullets.)

Work done on the big sci-fi WIP this afternoon: I reworked a scene where my protagonist has to convince the rest of his squadron to attack an inter-dimensional Gate in order to keep it from going critical. The catch? No one but him can literally see the evidence why this will work. #amWriting
