Another night of Fic writing! I didn’t make progress at the point where I was stuck, but (after getting thoroughly distracted for a while) I got some other scenes filled in and I’m feeling better about this chapter! Maybe I might get this project done by end of January after all? #amWriting

Cleaned up and posted 2 whole chapters of Fic today! Some writing progress at last! (Now I just gotta somehow get myself out of this hole I seem to have written myself into going into the climax….)

I finally had some writing time yesterday and today! I spent it all reading through stuff I had previously written, and trying desperately to figure out how to move forward in the scene I’m currently writing. No tangible forward progress made. 😫
…2026 writing is not off to an auspicious start. 🤦‍♀️

New year, new you?

Happy New Year! Here’s to stories with happy endings.

Well, I’ve managed to do it again. I inadvertently picked an entirely-too-appropriate book to read. I’ve spent this evening (half of December, actually - I’m not a fast reader) reading The Last Hour Between Worlds by @melissacaruso.bsky.social , which takes place during their world’s New Years Eve.

I didn’t have energy to write tonight. Thought I would read instead. Nope, spent entirely too much time doing online shopping/internet puttering instead. Definitely not finishing my last book of the year* or my Fic before 2025 is up. And I’m up too late. Blargh. (*which takes place at a NYE party!)

Oh shit, so if you sell fanart on your Shopify you NEED to email Amazon NOW! @monkeyminion.com posted who they reached out to here bsky.app/profile/monk...

Because this makes you searchable ON AMAZON by big companies doing copyright/trademark sweeps, you could have your shop shut down or worse.
Yup. Those fox stickers are sold out, but also, I'd much rather be the one deciding what gets seen. This is a weird cross selection.

My friend’s daughter made me a sword! It is adorable.

I got some Fic writing done today! I was hoping to do a lot more during the holiday break, but — holidays. While I am now at the climax chapters, it seems unlikely at this point that I will finish the Fic Project by the end of the year. Maybe January 2026? (It’s been fun, but I am ready to be done.)

Taking a quick rest before hanging stockings, after making cookies all afternoon and watching Scrooged with C. Tomorrow visiting family, if the weather cooperates (We might need to shovel, first). It’s definitely a white Christmas here!
Merry Christmas to all celebrating!

Do you want to help your college/uni?

Useful to know: college rankings are partly based on what *percentage* of alums donate *any* amount each year. So if you donate just $5 each December to your school it helps them substantially more than you’d think.

A rare case where tiny amounts matter.

C has been playing Super Robot Wars Y. This has turned out to be a super dangerous game for me, a self-professed mecha girl, to watch. I already have a list half a dozen anime (most of which I’d never even heard of) I now need to track down and watch (from across several decades).

Holidays cards are in the mail! 5 days *before* Christmas! (You don’t understand how late I usually am with these). Christmas candy from local candy/chocolate shoppe acquired! My head is pounding, though, so Tree decorating is gonna need to wait a bit.

My mum made us this beautiful Christmas swag. I love it!

Tonight, I got another scene written in the fic! I just have one more little section of this chapter to do, and then this section of chapters will be done, and we will be headed into the End Game!

The hilarious part of this particular choice for comparison is that “Murder, She Wrote” takes place in a fictional Maine town and well…Stephen King *does* kinda get treated like this.
The most unbelievable part of Murder, She Wrote is not the preponderance of murders, it’s that a genre writer is forever treated by both publishing and the public as prestigious and culturally important

Today was turbulent weather + emotions. It was a horrific impostor syndrome day that had me in tears at one point, convinced that I am in the wrong job with no escape plan.
BUT I actually made progress with writing this evening! I got past a mini-block I’ve been struggling with the last few days!

I got some writing done tonight! Did it progress ANY of the stories I am working on right now, in any of the scenes I need to get written — absolutely not! But words! (And my brain has not been particularly cooperative today, so I’ll take any coherent writing as a win, even if it ends up as omake.)

Well can confirm water temperature is more critical to tea flavor than brew time (at least for black tea): brought to you by - this basket has been steeping for half an hour and doesn’t taste like crap.

Got the outdoor Christmas decorations up today! I almost lost my wedding ring in the snow - despite wearing (fingerless) gloves at the time, then the wires snapped on the string of lights I’d been hanging during the above incident — after I’d finished hanging them. But ultimately, success!

Well, I finished Season 2 of Harbin Hotel and I was *disappointed*. The first season was great, but the second season was not nearly as strong — not in the music, and most certainly not in the writing! It seemed that most plot threads were forced, rushed, and/or went nowhere. I’m not a fan of S2.
