Since the Crazy 4 Cult art show is now live at Gallery 1988 I thought I’d show how this piece was constructed with Affinity Designer

I tend to work between computer and iPad with the iPad being used for touch ups and shading

This Friday is the opening of @galleries1988 Crazy 4 Cult with this piece being based on 80s flick Flight of the Navigator.

Influenced by old 80s cgi and video tape packaging I wanted to have this piece capture the feel of the time

When it comes to making roughs I always do them like this since colours play a large role in what I do and I like to think what they may be for the final, I’m pretty playful when making them since I more interested in capturing the overall idea than adding in details.

With the end of @secret7s I can now finally reveal my sleeve cover design based on the Scissor Sisters song Return to Oz

Secret 7 was a one off exhibition with artwork presented on record sleeves based on a small selection of songs and with all proceeds going to War Child

Here’s a breakdown of the Fahrenheit 451 piece showing off the wireframes and it without any shading or textures.

I tend to keep things clean and to break down composition into elements to keep things readable before working on the finer details and shading

Been wanting to make mockups of book covers for a while so here is the first one I’ve made based on Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, a book set in the not too distant future where books are largely banned and burned by the firemen
