Happy 75th birthday to Chris Claremont, with whom I worked 50 years ago in the Marvel Bullpen, the only proof of which is this pic taken there during the mid-'70s. That's me, bearded and wild-haired in a Mickey Mouse hat, him kneeling, with his face obscured as he takes a photo of the photographer.

You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?

I dreamt the producers of The Good Place liked the pitch I'd submitted for an episode of the show and invited me to drop by tomorrow so we could talk it over. I then reread my pitch plus pulled out copies of The Good Place comic I was writing for DC (which was not an IRL thing) to prep. Then I woke.

This is the Saturday Night Live sketch I've watched more times than any other from recent years, and it's never failed to make me laugh. I'm amazed Heidi Gardner and Benedict Cumberbatch managed to keep it together having to say lines like those.
I have begun reading a novel for a review, and unfortunately my brain has decided that its narrator sounds exactly like Benedict Cumberbatch in this sketch. This is going to get weird, isn't it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Fd...

Where was I seven years ago tonight? Attending Chessiecon in Timonium, Maryland, about to dig into a multiplicity of ice cream flavors with friends, something which started small, but as it turned into a tradition, grew. Oh, how I miss that con ... and all that ice cream!

Now that it's been five days since I returned from my NYC trip and its various unmasked encounters (though not on the trains, never the trains), it seemed the right time to check I'm not wandering about asymptomatically. And all continues to appear copacetic, for which I'm grateful.

Stumbled upon — and immediately shredded — a notebook I'd kept in 1991 — which makes 6,200 pages I've turned to confetti so far this year. Doing the best I can to make sure nothing survives of my writing save the words I choose to publish in my lifetime, and hoping to leave nothing for archivists.

Reading in Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin's obituary about the 1968 passage of a law making it illegal "to incite, organize, promote or encourage" a riot, I couldn't help but think — that's exactly what Trump did on January 6 when a mob attacked the Capitol at his command. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/23/u...

Continuing to edit audio for the next Eating the Fantastic, I'm horrified to hear I attributed the powerful poem "MAGA Hat in the Chemo Room" to ALTHEA Gibson — who's the tennis legend — rather than its true author ANDREA Gibson. As partial penance, I once again share it here. youtu.be/WCX-0zJTEbk

A 1934 Random House ad claims: "Ulysses is no harder to understand than any other great classic. It essentially a a story and can be enjoyed as such. Do not let the critics confuse you. Ulysses is not difficult to read, and it richly rewards each reader in wisdom and pleasure." I beg to differ.
