The eulogies and memorials for Rob and Michelle Reiner keep coming, illuminating their inherent goodness, deep well of empathy, and their creative brilliance. Remarkable! Such a tragic loss. 💔

I understand why there is a segment of people using AI to generate novels, songs, and artwork because it is hard to create these things with quality and integrity. For me, writing novels is hard, but it's the work of it—the long, lonely months of being in my head–that make the result worthwhile. 1/2

So happy for my friend Kerri Schlottman that her excellent new novel DAYTIME MOON will be out in May 2026 from Unnamed Press! I was honored to blurb this exceptional novel & will be lovingly placing it in the hands of fiction lovers the day it comes out & beyond! Put it on your TBR list, my friends!

Rob Reiner's films were the best. They inspired me as a young writer to be curious about friendships and difficult relationships. I've shared his films with my children who also loved them. RIP Rob Reiner. Your genius will live on.

Comic book mail: The Amazing Spider-Man #102. Nov 1971. Writer: Roy Thomas. Penciler: Gil Kane. "Vampire at Large!" A six-armed Spider-Man is caught between the Lizard and Morbius, whose backstory is revealed. This copy has a faded cover, but otherwise it's in beautiful shape!

I've been reading about the resurgence of CDs, so I decided to dig out my CDs from the 80s, 90s, and early 00s, the ones I bought in record stores. I'm listening to them on my Bose CD player! There's something special about listening to music without compression.

I like Tarantino films like the rest of us, but bashing actor Paul Dano in There Will Be Blood is like Eric Clapton bashing Phil Collins drumming at Live Aid.

I mean, does anybody remember Tarantino's acting in Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs? As far as acting in those films, he's the weakest link!

An interesting bit of trivia about my writer life revealed itself in my music recap. The months where I was working on 2 manuscripts revealed themselves in my recap. I finished one in January and wrote the second one from July to October. Fun fact: I don't write everyday of the year. I need breaks.

Our artificial Christmas tree is truly a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. A gazillion needles fall off it every year as we're putting it up. But once the lights and ornaments go on, it looks magnificent every time! Photos to come. 🎄 ✨ 🌟
