The media blackout on ICE activity is partly due to national Dem leadership giving up the leverage and national attention they had a month ago.
It's partly due to Americans not being willing to stay engaged for more than a couple months when it's bad things happening only to Black and brown people.

I live in Minnesota and I care about mental health.
Here's what's happening now because of ICE:
- Lots of people who never struggled with depression and anxiety disorders are now.
- People already dealing with severe mental illness are at much higher risk of suicide or disappearing from care.

Rereading it, I see just how much higher level vocabulary I was exposed to in reading comics, something I preach about often. I have compiled a list of this vocabulary in just this one story. Excitement and engagement kept me reading. The built-in scaffolding of image and text helped make meaning.
