Abraham Lincoln’s political ethos feels more important than ever: “I have never had a feeling politically that did not spring from the sentiments embodied in the Declaration of Independence.”

What he said.

A year ago I asked Jason Miyares for an expedited opinion on the legality of the Rosie’s being built in Henrico.

A year later - and after many attempts to stop this project - I get this response.

He ran out the clock and then threw up his hands. A real profile in courage . . .

I'm in today’s RTD @richmond.com talking about housing.

The average home price in Sept 2025 was 420k. Up 42% in five years. We are pricing the middle class out of the Commonwealth. We need to act.

Affordable housing to be a key issue in General Assembly
Housing advocates want to tackle the affordable housing crisis with legislation that could tap into one of Virginia’s longest-standing points of political tension.

The typical joke is that they don’t have a health care plan and they’ll never have one.

But they do and it passed last July: taking away four people’s health care to pay for a tax cut for one millionaire family.

It's great to see another high quality childcare option coming to the 16th District, at Willow Lawn.

When grades stop meaning anything it’s kids who need public schools the most who suffer.

My Governor!

I’m very excited to continue to relentlessly focus on housing and energy supply. And to have a Governor that has my back.

Let’s build and by building, lower costs, create jobs, grow our economy, and ensure families can prosper.
As Governor, I will pursue every opportunity possible to help lower costs for Virginians.

He’s right. Congress should act.

A good day for our universities, constitution and commonwealth.

And a bad day for MAGA attempts to hijack our schools.

I'm on WVTF talking about how to increase housing supply.

We can give local government the autonomy to increase supply in their own way but there has to be state accountability.

Housing is a statewide crisis and it needs a statewide policy.

On the World History SOL test, what's equivalent to a 49 is "passing"--parents see that as a score of 400/600. It’s not transparent. And getting less than half right is not a sign of success.

This is why I fought to have tests on a 100-pt scale. And why I’m okay with the initial cut score increase.

What do they say about digging when you’re in a hole?

Everyone knows Youngkin politicized our colleges and allowed Trump to run roughshod over them.

@abigailspanberger.com is rightfully asking them to take a pause as we account for - and fix - his constant meddling and bad decision making.

He spent his entire four years politicizing our colleges. And as with everything else, he tried to politicize or turn into a culture war fight he’s going to lose.

Imagine if he had tried to work with Democrats? Maybe he wouldn’t be reduced to this sad, whiny energy.

I think it’s really important to note that the most important job standardized testing does is check in and make sure kids are learning.

They are not a perfect tool (far from it) but without them we just have vibes. And grade inflation is really hard to curb. That’s just a fact.
