“When a gas-powered stove is turned on, it immediately releases carbon monoxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and nitrogen dioxide into the air.” The result? Higher risks of asthma & pollution at home. Electric appliances offer healthier, safer homes.

California lawmakers have decided to pause updates to carbon-pollution-slashing building codes — for six years. So what's next? Advocates highlight some exceptions in the law that might allow localities to push forward on their climate goals anyway. www.canarymedia.com/articles/car...
California halts building code updates in a blow to electrification
Local jurisdictions may still be able to adopt ambitious codes that help homes ditch gas and promote heat pumps under exceptions in the new law, AB 130.

I'm glad so many people showed up to protest on June 14th. I wanted to suggest one thing motivated people can do that will help with the long term structural changes we need: If you have fossil fueled equipment that is approaching the end of its life, replace it with an electric version.

Heat pumps — carbon-free HVAC & water heating systems — are essential for our transition to zero carbon. We need many more of them ASAP. Yet the permit process can slow down their installation.

I’m authoring legislation (SB 282) to speed up heat pump permits. It passed its second committee today.

Breaking: New poll finds that most L.A. residents back tougher building codes & restrictions.

So why is CA (in #AB306) considering FREEZING needed updates to building codes for a decade?!

That won't save money—it will COST residents money & endanger lives!

Why are Karen Bass & Gavin Newsom rushing to rethink clean energy rules in the wake of the L.A. fires?

Rebuilding homes with gas furnaces won't be any cheaper or faster. If anything, all-electric homes are the best thing for everyone. My @latimes.com column: www.latimes.com/environment/...
Column: The Los Angeles fires are no excuse to slow down on clean energy
State and local officials seem to be rushing to rethink climate policies. It's a terrible idea.
