This isn't hopeless. We have a say in the future, but it requires a lot of work, for a long time. Step one, do business with, or create the businesses, that align with our values.

In the background, use the tools, or create the tools, that align with our values.
Given the current trajectory, a job in the tech industry may eventually require the use of generative AI tools, no different than being forced to learn and use a computer, email, or coffee maker if it's determined to maximize profits.

Unfortunately, quality takes a back seat to profit.

Generating code was never the goal. The goal was to solve problems. I tried my best to avoid writing code by leveraging existing solutions or reframing the problem.

Writing code was always a last resort and a liability. If I was going to write code, then I was going to do it right.

I used to hate on Will because he’d troll cost of living conversations with median wage charts and be like, “things are better than they ever have been, based on this one stat”

but radicalized Will fighting the empire and defending his neighbors has converted me—this guy’s got the juice!
Minneapolis should press its momentum and demand not only withdrawal but start talking about the need for immediate reparations, loudly, with the total certainty that only winners have. "You have wronged us terribly and must pay recompense" and let them argue the second part.

This is Minneapolis.

Collective trauma, and neighbors helping neighbors.

AI Completely Failing to Boost Productivity, Says Top Analyst
AI may or may not excel at a lot of things, but from an economic standpoint, it's definitely not making us more productive.

This style of plot (a joy plot or ridgeline plot) is just perfect for climate data. It would be too confusing as a heat map, and too lossy as a line plot, and this marries the two perfectly.

So a CBS Evening News reporter actually did a pretty solid breakdown of the ICE murder video, talking to a former agent who details all the ways Ross messed up. And yet: It didn’t air on the actual show tonight. CBS did post it to YouTube—and it has nearly 800k views already youtu.be/6ywLEESFDu0?...

there is no available evidence that donald trump understands what a tariff is, what a trade deficit is, and what the national debt is.
The way Trump talks about the problems he caused by unilaterally imposing tariffs is fairly insane, even by his standards.
