From White House press conference, re: Israel bombing Qatar: President Trump feels "very badly about the location of the attack"

You can't make this shit up

In July 2024, Israel waited until Ismail Haniyeh *left* Qatar to visit Tehran before assassinating him.

Now it's just full-on bombing Qatar.

If the US had granted visas to PLO leaders to attend the UN meeting this month, I'd be very scared about Mossad operations in Manhattan.

Qatar has now been bombed by both Iran and Israel, while hosting a major US base. This has serious implications on the meaning - or lack thereof - of hosting US military as well as just how inconvenient it is to be a mediator in this day and age.

Fun fact: Qatar, whose capital Israel just bombed, is a “major non-NATO ally” of the United States.

In other words: Israel's turning into the US in the worst possible way.

Reporter: We have not seen tariffs at these rates since the 1930s, and following that was the Great Depression. It's ratcheted up to 50% for some countries. The most recent estimate is these tariffs costing the average family $2,400 a year. That's a significant hit to the average American family

A genuinely good part of the old Republican aesthetic is how it sought to play down wealth, an impulse born from Protestant values. You can see this in how Bush dressed and decorated his living spaces

That aesthetic now replaced by gilt detailing designed to remind you that the occupant is wealthy.

Recently, my book THEY CALLED US ENEMY was banned – again – in Tennessee. Book bans are out of control. Huge parts of American history are being restricted. To join me in standing up for the freedom to read, go to pen.org/action. @penamerica.bsky.social @topshelfcomix.bsky.social @idwpublishing.com

Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

Please listen anyone if you want to know why Jordan is one of the world's most militarized countries and spends 40% of its budget on military/defense/security...

But hasn't fought a real war in a half-century and can offload its real security burdens onto the US/NATO
