Hey, I tried to find a good Larry Hisle pic, but couldn't find anything where you could see his number. Not too many good choices for #4.

All right, folks: Philadelphia Magazine has excerpted chapter 7 of my upcoming book "Moses and the Doctor." This is my favorite chapter--it's on the 1977 NBA Finals, a battle between Bill Walton's Trail Blazers and Dr. J's 76ers. It was rich with symbolism. www.phillymag.com/news/2026/02...
“We Owe You One”: The Sixers, the 1977 NBA Finals, and the Fight for the Future of Basketball
In an excerpt from the forthcoming 'Moses and The Doctor,' author Luke Epplin explores everything that went wrong for the Sixers — and how the stakes were much higher than what happened on the court.

Cannot confirm, but every fiber of my being wants it to be true.
Garry Maddox drove around a bunch of us drunks who hopped in back of his car in East Falls😬 He could not have been kinder & more patient with us. So he deserves ALL the props anyone can give😁❤️👏👏👏💯

And that's true.

I don't need "spicier" deadlines or offseasons. There's plenty of action already. The NBA is a shit product all around in its current form.

I didn't say that he won any GG with the Giants, just that he won 8 and replaced Mays, who was mentioned in my comment about Tony G.
February 4, 2026 at 7:03 PM
Garry Maddox is on the Phillies Wall of Fame. Tony Gonzalez is not. Head to head, Maddox outpaces in all of the counting stats, but Tony G crushes it in the rate stats. No Gold Gloves for Gonzalez, because Willie Mays. Maddox won 8 after replacing Mays as the Giants CF in 1972. Put Tony on the Wall!

2026's calendar is the same as 1981's, so I'm using my vintage '81 Phillies one this year.
