Any fellow old school sci-fi/horror geeks on BlueSky?
I have a column called "Musings of a Middle-Aged Geek" where I examine movies, TV shows, sci-fi/horror conventions and other geeky stuff, with no mandatory subscriptions or paywalls. Live long and prosper, folks! 🖖

If we wanted a Nobel "Peace" Prize, he might not want to attack his own country.

I love that movie.
I realize the caricatures are (badly) dated, but Albin and Renato made me wish I had parents like them.

Wish he'd take his own advice and get the fuck out.

From the same Reagan-worshipping party that once pretended to be all about "state's rights," too.

I will never get used to military in our streets. I will never be a Christian. I will never get used to people claiming to be Christians putting military in our streets.

There is no fucking Antifa "organization" unless you count US troops who fought the Nazis in World War 2...

Noem: “We are hoping…we will get more and more information about the network and how we can route them out and eliminate them from the existence of American society…Antifa is just as sophisticated as MS-13, as TDA, as ISIS, as Hezbollah, as Hamas, as all of them. They are just as dangerous.”

Not how science works.
He'd know that if he were an actual scientist, and not a conspiracy-addled heroin addict who eats roadkill and reads The National Enquirer for 'research.'

ANY censorship of books in the United States is unacceptable.

I was 9 when I read "JAWS," I was 11 when I read "Helter Skelter," and I was 12 when I read Joseph Wambaugh's "The New Centurions."

You put a sophisticated book in a kid's hands and they might just rise to meet it.

That's what I call them here on BlueSky because 'skeets' sound they're made of clay and I should be shooting them.

I barely know where to begin with that one. So many.

Gojira (1954)

The Seventh Seal (1957)

La Cage aux Folles (1978); dated, but it still had a loving queer family.

Roshomon (1950)

Cinema Paradiso (1988)

Let the Right One In (2006)

Godzilla Minus One (2023)

Solaris (1972)

Stalker (1979)

Trump is their abusive sugar daddy; he gives the RepubliKKKan Party freedom to embrace all of the dark, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic shit they've been dreaming of for years.

All he asks is their self-respect and their souls.

Not as long as they can hide behind Mike Johnson's skirt.

When/if we ever do have a vote in the House on releasing Epstein files, it will get more than 218 votes. Probably many more. That’s because Republican cowards are happy to hide behind Mike Johnson’s obstruction now, but when it comes time to vote many won’t dare vote no.

I don't vote for anyone brandishing a fucking machine gun who looks more like they're running to lead ISIS.

Tonight I did my annual rewatch of #MarioBava 's "Black Sabbath" (1963), with #BorisKarloff. The three segments are “A Drop of Water” (the scariest), “The Telephone” and “The Wurdulak” (beautifully filmed). Great flick for Halloween. And the group got their name from the movie, not vice versa.😜👻 1/2
