Thankful today I’ve been able to contribute to The Atlantic, a magazine I admire greatly which employs writers I admire even more. My latest: on my son’s favorite books, and their delightful author.

So our heat is out (brrr) and I had to call the HVAC company and I ended up speaking to a very nice young woman who said she'd take down my info and pass it on to a technician and was confirming my phone number, which starts with 312... and she said "Is it Three Twelve..." and I was like:

One thing that I have always admired about Dan — something that’s been particularly obvious this year — is his investment in the communities of which he’s a part. What a great idea this is. bsky.app/profile/dans...
Small-scale, fiercely independent journalism rarely gets recognition when awards are handed out, but it's vital in our communities—especially this year. So I made an award and am thrilled to announce @unraveledpress.com and @lataco.bsky.social as the inaugural winners. dansinker.com/posts/2025-1...

I have a theory that Both Sides tend to mirror each other’s rhetoric and accusations. Sometimes it’s human nature — people tend to be frightened/triggered/enraged by the same things. Sometimes it’s intentional. This is intentional.

(1/2) People often ask: Who was your favorite NMJ Guest? And I usually say: There have been so many wonderful ones, but my favorites have tended to be the people I admired when I was young, who I then got to meet and found out that yes, they were just as wonderful as I hoped.

Haven’t seen this movie, but I recently (finally) watched “Uncut Gems” and had the same reaction to Sandler as I did to ScarJo when I saw “Under The Skin:” — if this had been the debut of either actor, they would have been immediately hailed as some of the greatest we have.
Watched JAY KELLY, which I enjoyed bc I like Clooney in everything. But also: kinda wild how Adam Sandler has like a 100% hit rate in serious roles?

This is a genuine question:

At that moment, a reporter says something like, "That's a lie! Why do you continue to lie to the American people?"'

Other than generating viral posts and driving the news cycle for a few hours, what do you think would then happen?
This the core problem with the White House Press Corps encapsulated: Karoline Leavitt just lied right to your face, you know she's incorrect, and you just move on to your next topic.

It matters that she's wrong and/or lying about it! Stay there!
Q: You acknowledged that CPI in January was 3%. In September, the last month we have data, it was also 3%

LEAVITT: It's 2.5%

Q: Not in September. It was 3%

LEAVITT: I have it in front of me

Looming over all the details here of dishonesty, etc. is that in the first weeks of the Administration's deportion push, they deported a man in error.

And rather than simply admit that and bring him back, they have gone to Kafka-esque lengths to punish him for the effrontery of being innocent.

Saw this movie in the theater when it came out, and loved it, esp because I lived in LA near the single block where it all takes place.

As for a movie I've seen once and admired immensely but said at the time I'd never watch it again and still haven't: Schindler's List.
Requiem for a Dream is the obvious answer, so I'll put a plug in for a movie not as many people have heard about, but should: Miracle Mile

Nixon could have saved so much trouble and money installing a WH taping system just by typing out his rants and posting them.
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.
