idk the older you get the more life becomes a balancing act and sometimes your dreams will lead you to self destructive paths and sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself, loved ones, and your artwork is learning when to step back and enjoy other aspects of life and learn other skills

not saying to not follow your dreams but its very important to remember that chronic stress is THE silent killer and is the cause of SO many health problems and early deaths, and that causing this kind of stress is baked into the mainstream art industry bc they only care about output not human lives

often being a full time artist is not worth the stress, lack of funds, tax responsibilities, etc there is no shame and you're not less of an artist if you have a secondary career/day job and so long as its peaceful and tolerable enough its much less stressful choice & helps prevent burnout

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.
