I thought I'd start with this little project that wasn't too bad except for the final match - I've been working on trying betas that take advantage of my longness, hence the toehook splits here instead of a big flag to handle the swing from matching!

One of the things I wanted to start doing re: posting more is sharing more of my climbing - it's hard to find time with the baby, but it's been the main pursuit I still cling to and I've stored up quite a few clips as I've taken improving more seriously!

If you read all this - thank you!!! I don't mean for this to be too dour - I've come to learn that given distance, time, and a little change, what feels like a failure shrinks into a little curve in the road!

If you're a friend who feels you've seen me withdraw, I hope that this gives some insight into where I have been at and that you know you're in my thoughts all the time. I just struggle to put anything into words that aren't belabored upon, if this thread didn’t make that apparent hahah.

I think the next best step is just to be out and vulnerable about the problem, and start being a bit more open about my goings on, even if it's just more posting - heaven knows I've been up to stuff I wanna share! But I’m also open to ideas, advice, or even commiseration LOL.

Trying to take connecting with people so seriously made it feel a lot more like a chore I needed to structure into my life, but my tries at doing so haven’t succeeded and just upped the pressure. I want to be more out there and leaning on friends again, but building that habit back is arduous!

I admit that I felt this was just something I was doing until I got my “new life” in order. Living with a baby has pretty immediately schooled me otherwise - that, and guilt about having been radio silent to so many folks I care about for so long, has made me struggle to get out of this rut!

My focus shifted towards my impending family and home, but something that suffered was putting the effort I thought of as standard into my friendships. I was anxious about not being able to match the energy of friends who wanted my time, and often opted to disengage rather than just do my best.

I could not be any happier than to be turning 29 and to be a brand new Dad! It feels like I'm stepping into a new chapter of my life, but one anticipated and hoped for for so long that it feels like I’ve already been taking this step for the past year or more!
