Is learning to see with sound a bit like looking at autostereograms, where at some point something perceptually snaps into place and you see the scene "through" the (visual) noise? Suppression based?

It's not that the human brain is incapable of vision-like mental imagery: for instance lucid dreams can be very vivid, detailed and realistic, as can be Charles Bonnet syndrome hallucinations in late-blind people. Could we somehow harness that?
