I’m not sure anyone is doing sportswriting better currently than @seeratsohi.bsky.social.

“We are quick, in these moments, to look for mortal answers to immortal problems. Call it a Promethean complex, humanity's drive to obtain forbidden knowledge. I certainly have my quibbles with Phoenix's defense on that last play. Bonner shouldn't have shot the gap on the screen coverage, and the double should have forced Wilson to the right-her nondominant side, although she's pretty dominant there, too.

“But looking for the mistake in a magical moment misses the point. Consider this: For days, WNBA fans and analysts have debated whether or not the Mercury should double-team Wilson. And in her final play of the game, Wilson showed us how self-defeating every solution is.”

appreciate the kind words!

Even the basketball Gods couldn’t stop A’ja Wilson. Then again, maybe they were setting the stage for her. On her historic shot, the Aces killer instinct, and an immortalizing night for a player climbing up the GOAT ladder. www.theringer.com/2025/10/09/w...

In a Finals clash brimming with chaos, the WNBA's four-time MVP rose above mortals to remind everyone who rules the mountaintop

Yeah, denial needed to be stronger. So hard to double effectively on a face up when you don’t have the length advantage
seeratsohi.bsky.social
my quibble isn't with the scheme as much as it is with the coverage. the Aces have so many clutch threats, but the Mercury doubled anyways. That's smart. But Bonner should have face-guarded on the inbounds instead of shooting the gap on the screen. A'ja was *way* too open.

Actually damn on rewatch they defended that really well. Only thing you could do is completely deny the ball to her but with 5 seconds why risk someone being uncovered for a Chelsea pass.

sometimes you're the team with Michael Jordan. Sometimes you're the team with Charles Barkley. Phoenix fans know.

A'ja Wilson, man. Even the basketball god's couldn't intervene
seeratsohi.bsky.social
one that I've noticed is that the A'ja Wilson experience is so much more fun because WNBA fans/media don't prop up current greats by tearing down the past. we're not doing Maya Moore vs. A'ja Wilson on First Take every morning. as a longtime NBA fan, that's refreshing
seeratsohi.bsky.social
in hindsight, the third quarter said a lot more about the the Aces heart -- and killer instinct
seeratsohi.bsky.social
between A'ja, the Aces 3-point shooting, the early coverage throwing them off, the Mercury have a lot of excuses to give up. the second half will tell us a lot about their heart

A'ja Wilson is doing quintessential GOAT shit. tastes how close victory is and she's not letting up -- she's pushing the gas pedal even harder

things I think about when I watch Chelsea Gray play: what if Draymond Green had one of the best midrange jumpers in the game?
seeratsohi.bsky.social
The Aces went for the jugular with this box-and-one. Adjusting like *they're* the ones down 2-0. Impressive, terrifying stuff.

I wrote about Napheesa Collier's power play, Cathy Engelbert's puppet leadership, a changing ownership landscape and how the next commissioner should take a collaborative approach to the WNBA entering its player empowerment era:

The WNBA Is at a Breaking Point
Napheesa Collier went scorched earth on Cathy Engelbert for a reason. The players are fed up—and the firestorm is here.
