I have family members who keep traveling like it’s 2019. I keep wondering how soon it will be before we *can’t* leave the country. At least not in any legal way that’s made “easy” for us.

Maybe people'll stop talking about midterms and calling senators when they start asking for all this *to leave* the US even temporarily. I promise you that's coming if we stay on this trajectory.

NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

MINNEAPOLIS: “All I did was step outside as a Somali American citizen, and I got chased by a masked person, assaulted, kidnapped. It was inhumane. If this is what’s happening to a 🇺🇸 citizen on camera, imagine what could happen to your loved ones.”

A lot of you say "Gaslight" when what you mean is Bamboozle.

The result is that we've watered down the real psychological harm of gaslighting and we've underutilized a really fun word to say.

And I don’t even like Christmas movies.
“Klaus” (animated) is absolutely one of the best Santa origin movies. Ever.

This has been how it works from the start.

What people are newly unhappy with is that the scale of violence is too loud in their personal lives, now.

Their restaurant experience, upset, people getting snatched from schools, etc.

However, this fire has been burning and we've been told to ignore it

Fundamentally we're at this place with eye cee eee specifically because most white people are only against the current scope of harm, not that it exists.

There's been more than 20 years to say "A organization that abducts ppl, seperates families, can hold ppl indefinitely w/o trial is bad"

Now????

Shall I point you to the extrajudicial murder of Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, the 16 year old boy who was also a US citizen?

Abu Ghraib? Iraq and those WMDs they supposedly had?
This story sums up Trump: No need for evidence. No need for laws or treaties. No need for discussions. If Trump decides (based upon whatever random information or maybe just heartburn) that someone is in the wrong, he believes he has the right to kill them.

The US is now a rogue nation.

The most recent example of this is Covid. People’s relatives died painful, awful deaths and it changed nothing for them.

The drive to be accepted and go with the crowd is stronger than most people recognize. That’s why policy is so important.
I've got marketing experience related to changing behaviors. Unfortunately, it won't work for everyone.

A portion of the population will be swayed and will try to change behavior.

But a significant number of people will insist it can't happen to THEM and will dig their heels in.

Human nature.

This is so bad. She should be embarrassed.
You guys, this excerpt from Olivia Nuzzi's new book is SO bad. This is some of the most pretentious gasbag writing that I've read in a long time.

"He desired. He desired desiring. He desired being desired. He desired desire itself." She's so full of herself LMAO

I think the impact of not acknowledging our grief is deeper than many people realize. We are clearly not ok.
sometimes it will just hit me that over a million americans died from covid in a short period of time and we never had a national mourning. we never collectively grieved. we never honored the dead. this feels like a failure

😂I love the way their little brains work.
When I was snuggling with my kid just now, she told me she was disappointed by her book about the Donner Party, “because I thought they were going to feast on the people when they were still alive.”

Then she asked if cannibalism was illegal.

Then she asked if she could sleep in my bed.

This is disturbing, no doubt. But I see this as the natural extension of digital Blackface and the constant columbusing of AAVE.

I mean, once people are willing to dehumanize others, there’s not really a limit anymore, is there?
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh
