Stranger Things. People keep telling me it's absolutely my sort of thing and I'd love it, which automatically trips my contrary switch.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Hand Held in Black and White is, in many ways, the record that determined the course of pop music for the following four years. It is AMAZING. #totp

Sad to hear about the passing of the Michelangelo of Movie posters, RENATO CASARO. The Man painted so many iconic posters, specially in the 70s/80s: CONAN, TERMINATOR, DUNE, TOTAL RECALL, DANCE WITH THE WOLVES, BLOW OUT, FLASH GORDON, RAMBO, NEVER-ENDING STORY, and the list goes on and on. 1/2

The movie diary of a mystery cinemagoer was recently discovered. In it, they review the 325 films they saw in 1939. But who were they?

So today I learned that there were tie-in novels for THE DOLLARS TRILOGY that went beyond the movies and boy do they have some amazing titles.
In addition to A FISTUL OF DOLLARS, FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY...

We have: THE DEVIL'S DOLLAR SIGN, A COFFIN FULL OF DOLLARS, BLOOD FOR A DIRTY DOLLAR, THE MILLION DOLLAR BLOODHUNT and A DOLLAR TO DIE FOR.

My radical idea: do a sitcom in an actual theatre, eg the Palladium, and record it as live. Or even two different sitcoms, either side of an interval. A different show every week for six weeks, record the last performances. Make the live audience a selling point, not an irritation.

The obvious outlier is Mrs Brown's Boys. It's pretty dreadful, but the live audience gives it warmth, and that's what people respond to, I think. It's mad that something like Amandaland is single camera. It should be the biggest, broadest comedy du jour.

Can't remember. I doubt I'd have gone there, that wasn't the point.

There's a first time for everything! I daresay 'comparing falls' will be a big part of all our futures. 😀 Still, my knee's OK now – it's the bruised ribs that stopped me going for a run this morning, annoyingly.

Hadn't realised that my fall on Monday left me with a bit of a shiner, chiz

As times get weird, there's a Doctor Who audio drama from 2002 that I think about a lot called Neverland.

In it the Doctor discovers that his own people, the Time Lords, used to have a method of execution called "the Oubliette of Eternity" which erases the convicted person from time completely.

I am! Yes, it was recorded January 2001, I think. I'm glad it still has life. It's all a CIA* operation, of course.

My Australian The Keep box set just turned up, months after I preordered it. It is huge, and very heavy, and comes with a metal cross, and so much STUFF and oh God I love it

A lovely quote about their debt to Delia Derbyshire here...

"It was our manager’s idea to put Deepak [Khazanchi, santoor] and Dinesh [Pandit, tablas] on ‘Living On The Ceiling’ even though it’s a Middle Eastern melody. It’s a geographical nonsense!"

I'm OK now, thanks. Although I suspect I won't be running on this knee for the rest of this week. :(

Tripped on the pavement, by a crossing. Flat on my face. Shoe came off, hit my knee, grazed my hands, cut my forehead. Cyclist rode to a stop at the crossing... and ignored me. Lying there. On the ground. Dazed. Cyclists. The worst.
