Yes, despite all my focused health practices I still got sick to the point of the ER for the first time in my life recently.

People have no idea how hard it is for Black women to always have to break glass ceilings, set new records, and "be the change."

It literally weathers us, kills us from the inside out.

I would wish to add to this conversation that the Statue of Liberty itself is inherently an anti-black, imperial symbol of white supremacy. This is reviewed extensively in ‘White Freedom’ by Tyler Stovall. It is alienating to constantly see this frustration of the system that’s still exclusionary.

Writing my asylum narrative and having to explore all the harm I’ve felt as a black, and transgender person, and seeing that it’s every year since I had decided to no longer hide indoors is grim. This is a very mind numbing, and in some ways degrading process.
