This road , some believe , was based on an old Mercian Road , going near where the Staffordshire hoard was found, and linking Lady Wulfruna’s lands, now called Wolverhampton, with Lichfield & Tamworth. Wasn’t St George the emblem of the Norman conquerors of the Mercians ?

I went past the Miner roundabout a few days ago driving from Wolves to Lichfield. Lots of predictable white vans going around and around the Island. With the wind and rain over the weekend, the flags looked very bedraggled and cheap.

The UK had by my calculations, per capita, twice the number of fatalities as the Republic of Ireland. Ireland wasn’t exactly gold standard. Experts were begging the UK govt & opposition to follow basic science, to no avail. The UK scientific establishment was silent. Only Independent SAGE spoke out
